Good to know - I had been operating off of the 2x per letter grade rule.  Based on the responses here, it looks like 1.5 - 1.7x per letter grade is a better estimate.

for the record the D+ team won by spending 77k to the B team's 36k (I don't want to give away exact types of effort spent, but the D+ spent more efficiently)

But it's much more minor at d2 and evenmoreso at d3 ...
