This is the technical formula

I'm surprised so many place no importance on RC27.   Regardless of what stat(s) you use to determine who's producing, the top RC27 players are going to be right there.
I usually wait for the HBD legends to bring this stuff to my attention then go from there.

Sound reasoning.

I feel like revisiting this.    Checked my Coop team.

Top 4 using the formula I stumbled across for predicting highest RC27 on team(100 scale):
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Brandon Gray   100
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Rob Prince  90.2
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Robin Petersen  88.3
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Norberto Matos  87.9

It gets a little wonky after top 4 as David Jose was 5th at 80.8 and Duran 9th at 74.   But those are the only two out of whack.   Nolan was 6th(79.3), Scott was 7th(78.5) and Garcia was 8th(74.3).

So what is the formula so we can make sense of your data
6/5/2013 9:00 PM
Yeah, I thought about that after I posted how it works.   But, no, I don't give up formulas.

I guess the point I was making/info I was trying to find out was that RC27 seems to be the most "important" offensive metric available to us and that a very simple formula can predict, with a lot of accuracy, which players will lead your team in it.

Worth a try

RC27 should be more accurate because as good as OPS can be, the values it assigns to different hits are off, and of course it ignores SB. Wouldn't adjusting for regular RC be better, as it considers playing time? RC27 is just a per PA percentage of RC, no? Anyway, if that's the correct formula for RC listed previously, that needs some work, too. Linear weights should be used to set the value for singles, doubles, etc. WAR would be even better as it adds in fielding and a positional adjustments. HBD is definitely behind the times now.

IMO, RC27 is better because I already account for playing time.   Some guys are only going to be platoon guys and some guys are only going to get 300 AB due to DUR(Ferrer earlier in the thread).

Do you apply RC27 as a whole, or break it down by VSRHP and VSLHP? Does HBD provide the stats in a format that you can simply copy and paste to Excel or are you merging two different screens into 1 formula page?
6/6/2013 1:53 PM
As a whole.   As I said, I already account for playing time.   Gray is going to get 85% of his AB VR.   Ferrer, with his 39 DUR, is my DH VL.   And so on down the line.

IOW, I already know how/when they'll play.  I just need to know they're producing as I expect them to when I put them in the "right" situation to succeed.
6/6/2013 2:08 PM
That confused me and I posted it.   I know how I'll play them.   I use a formula to predict, hopefully, which players will produce best in the situations I'll put them in.

The formulas I've used with OPS as the guiding stat were all over the place sometimes.   So I was constantly tweaking them.   Using RC27 as the guiding stat seems to produce more even results.
