italyprof, re: humor. It was Oscar Wilde who said, of Dickens and his sentimentality, "One must have a heart of stone to read the death of little Nell without laughing."
Sometimes laughter is appropriate; sometimes it's inappropriate, which can make it even more precious. I just finished watching the Theresienstadt documentary "The Last of the Unjust" by the great Claude Lanzmann (of "Shoah" fame). At nearly four hours long, I shudder to think what it would have been like without the occasional saving grace of humor.
Regardless of what happens with Donald Trump in the future, he's funny. He says funny things, and he says things funny, and it's just funny in general that someone like him even exists, and is "successful" (in the narrow sense that many define success -- i.e., money money money). Let's enjoy him while we can!
