Guys, CoachWard is part of the community... He is trying to build up Chowan in Allen. Give him advice.
Here's my advice for coach ward:
A college degree is not worthless. We might all be able to debate the merits of graduating from a four year school and then pursuing higher levels of education and graduating with hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt. But a college degree can be obtained without incurring such high levels of debt. Get your associates degree from a community college and complete your general ed requirements, then transfer to a four year school.
Or, go to a trade school and learn a craft or trade. Talk to counsellors about what you want to do and talk to people who work in the field you are interested in and then apply yourself to be the best you can be in that field.
Degrees and education are not worthless, they will give you an advantage in pursuing a job, particularly if you're up against someone who doesn't have one, just be judicious in your pursuit thereof.
" But a college degree can be obtained without incurring such "high levels of debt". Bingo you hit it right in the nail of the coffin here. You must not understand the system at all.. College and university waste your time for 4 to 8 years! When you can work you way up and working/ volunteering for a business is the way to go. Take for instance I ask my old coach rather to go get a teaching degree or volunteer and work my way up and try to get into the door to become a coach somewhere that way. He said fill out a volunteer sheet for a school or rec league me personally I want to start out volunteering with small kids then work my way up and gain expeirence and move as fast as possible to the next level of coaching. I want to coach sometime in my lifetime.. I already have 1 football championship under my belt my first season coaching rec football 9 and 10s.
"A college degree is not worthless" yes it is dude there is plenty of people who doesn't have a job in there degree area they only take the ones who has expeirence and hard work ethic not because you have some sort of paper declaring you graduate with tremendous amount of debt!
Why would I go back to school for youtube when I don't need school and the debt at all? I am already ahead of schedule with equipment plus i'm sponsored with noscopeglasses.com and partnered with freedom. I have more important things to do than waste 4 to 8 years of my life away that is a long time.... on school.
Meanwhile can you explain to me why most billionaires don't have degrees?!?! Also I am going into music and putting together and clothing line in the future.
Maybe if you had a college degree you could write clearly and concisely without confusing the hell out of everyone that reads it.
what do you want to coach? If you want a paying job coaching basketball at a school you need a degree in something.
Dude, a 9 to 10 year old football team championship for a rec league isn't that great, it sure as hell is this something that you can put on a resume and the other person will be like, woah, that's amazing, you have the job.
If you want a high paying job you will need a degree, if you are fine living off a youtubers salary for the rest of your life that's your choice, but don't you dare go on government benefits and have to have us pay for you to live, that's the problem with America today. Sorry sore spot.
Where is is your stat on that? About 30% of billionaire dont have a college degree, and that's mostly because they became computer whizzes in high school and they designed apple or somethin, that's also a small amount of people. But 80% of the people that make over 200,000$ have at least a bachelor degree and only 9% have a high school degree or less.
Normally I wouldn't go into this kind of thing with a random guy on the Internet, but when I now know more about your life than I do my neighbors... and so many of the things you are saying are...
Sorry, I realize I'm being a little harsh, here's a little better end note.
Ward, I think it's great that you are excited about this game and you want to post on the forums and get involved, but please don't talk about your personal life to the extent that you are, we don't want to know you had sex with Coach K's relative while he was watching, we don't want to know you lost your verginity at a black eye peas concert to a millionaire or something like that, we don't want to know about your confusing career dealings, just talk about the game, leave it there. Side note, you seem to have some confusing ideas on how to succeed in this game, I can help, though I am no expert, I have had some minor(extremely minor) success and am still learning.
another side note, work on your writing, you may claim you don't need a degree to get a job, but you do need to know how to write for almost every job and please don't tell everyone that interviews you about your sexual adventures... I am not kidding, seriously. I had a English teacher named Nr. Mackelveen, he's now something like 90 years old and still teaching , he voted in the Eisenhower election but he voted for Stevenson, he has students that are now 70, he's had like 20 different jobs, he has 4 long hairs on his head, 4. To get back on track, he would have his 4th heart attack if he read your writing.
