That was when he left too, I believe. I do hope he comes back. I also agree that all of the insults are sad to see. I have no problem at all with lively discussions, but it does not need to get personal. To me, that makes the original point that was trying to be made less valid and distracts from what the discussion is about.
It got personal when you beat Nebraska 20 consecutive times while you were at Colorado, chapel

LOL - Nebraska is a brutal place to coach, I think. Never tried it but the odds are kind of stacked against you. I think with the Beta, it will be a little better. I am finding it easier to recruit at a greater distance from there.

I know this is off topic but I just read on a conference message board that a D3 team beat you out for a 1 star guard Chapel and you're at a D1 school? Is that right? If it is, this may be even worse than I had imagined because I know that you're an experienced coach and wouldn't make any silly mistakes while recruiting that player. Please tell us that isn't true? Or at least tell us in the peanut gallery that you weren't in a serious battle for the player and a that a D3 school didn't "actually" beat out a D1 school for a 1 star player?

It isn't true.

The D3 school spent roughly 4 times as much effort as Chapel's B+ D1 school. Chapel's school signed him pretty easily.

Well - I am a bit embarrassed to say that when I looked again, he had not signed with him. I was able to land that player. I only had 20 AP to work with because I had already signed all my players, so I cut a scrub and went after him. I was one cycle away from getting the scholarship open, and I don't know why I thought it was over. Came back about 5 minutes later, and realized it was not over, and that I had finally unlocked the scholarship - LOL.

Once I unlocked a scholly, I went to very high, and he went from very high to moderate. He came back and knocked me down to high, and he was at very high. So, I did one HV and went back to VH and he went to moderate. I signed him.

He was the #33 shooting guard - a 1 Star player. Not a great player but way above D1 level. AB was the coach of Muskingum. They were a C- D3 team. We were a C+ D1 team that had just finished #17. The only thing that I would like to see differently, is that he was ahead of 8 D1 sims.

Afterwards I asked AB90, the coach of Muskingum how much he put in. Again, my total was 100 AP, although I would have won at 80. 1 HV and a scholarship. Here was his response:

Sure thing! I currently have 665 attention, 3 homes, a start, and 25 guaranteed minutes. I've shot the moon for him. Sounds like the division difference is crazy important! That surprises me how little you've put in to still lead him. Very interesting!

It was super easy to beat him, which was appropriate. I don't think that part needs to be fixed. I do think that the sim D1 teams should have been able to pass him, even with AP since he was so high. If he was an unranked D1 player that would ride the bench for 4 years at a D1 school, I don't know that it would have been inappropriate, since he was promised a start as a freshman and 25 minutes. I could see that as being a realistic scenario.

So, my take on it is that sim D1 schools should be more aggressive in recruiting. I also think that scholarships should be easier to unlock, but I like the fact that HVs are harder to unlock because that seems to have cured the sniping/poaching problem.

Thanks for the explanation Chapel. Always helps when it's thorough and detailed like this is.

I guess my next question is what determines how many attention points you have available to use?

Everyone gets 20 and then you get 20 additional points for each additional scholarship you have open (so 6 open scholarships would give you 140 AP's per cycle to distribute until you sign a player, then you lose the 20 for that scholarship spot and would have 120, etc.)

Sh*t, I'm a f*cking dumbass...if only I had realized that sending out a WIS 'amber alert' thread looking for seeming allies in my most desperate of moments wasn't a form of selling out...then maybe...just maybe...I might be a well respected member of this community?
