Win a couple championships at DII! This coach in my conference jumped from DII straight to UConn....never seen such a jump before until he did it.

That's an impressive resume at Florida Tech! I can understand how he was eligible for some Big 6, but I wouldn't have guessed UConn being A+ baseline was even possible from D2.

This is the main reason I'm tempted to stay at D2. It's probably my best shot at getting a championship and my current team should be strong for the next few seasons. I just don't want to do it if a few more good D2 seasons doesn't get me any closer to a Big 6 job.
I've been eligible for UCONN, UNC, and several other very high profile schools while coaching at D2. It usually took a combination of a lot of success for me and a bad, bad series of seasons that dropped the elite program to a low enough prestige that I'd be eligible. At one point, with one of my schools, there were only four D1 teams that I was not qualified for. Unfortunately, one of those four was the school that I would have chosen so I stayed put in D2. Point being is that is entirely possible to make that kind of jump under the right set of circumstances. Just my two cents....

Updating my D1 job prospects in Tark after Season 134. I now have 10 seasons, and added another NT win.
https://www.whatifsports.com/hd/CoachProfile/Default.aspx?uid=862408&wid=8

My top qualified job as far as prestige was C+ Utah State
3 Long Shots: C/C+ Teams from the Big West, WCC and A10
Qualified for almost all low/mid major openings at C or below with a few exceptions from the A10, MVC and Horizon conferences
Not qualified for anything Big 6 - even D+ Texas Tech, Iowa State or Hawaii
Decided to go ahead and make the hop to D1 and picked up Utah State out of the Big West. Even though I had a pretty good D2 team, the challenge of building a low D1 contender out west sounded like more fun than toiling at D2 for a few more seasons.

It’s a pretty significant rebuild, so I expect my job prospects to take a hit for a couple seasons, but I’ll keep them updated until I get to a Big 6 team.
