A NOTE from yatzr:

I don't know what the issue is, but I would expect something to have changed with WIS for everyone to be experiencing issues at the same time. I could probably get a decent idea by looking at some log.txt files from individuals that are experiencing the issue.

I don't know when I'll be able to get around to updating the tool. I lost my development environment in a computer mishap awhile back. I still have all the code, but it will take some time to get everything back up and running. Once I have that, I'll need to borrow a login from someone to test things out since I no longer have a team. And all of that said, I don't have much free time these days and likely won't be able to take much of a look until this weekend.

I'm really sorry for the inconvenience here, and if I do get an hour here or there, I'll see what I can do to get my dev environment back up and running.

And whatever they did broke the roster capture for the GUESS reports (which, in reality, is from Yatzr.)

I've opened a ticket with them. We'll see how / if they respond.

Oh wow - I wish I had not bought a 5 pack to renew last week. I'd shitcan the game without the Yatzr tool. I cannot imagine playing without it.

I put a ticket in for a refund on my purchase. I will not play without the GD Reports / Yatzr tool.

You can't expect them/him to tailor their code to outside parties, c'mon. I get your pain but they they have enough trouble keeping up with their own stuff.

Yes, actually I can. If they are going to change something, a simple heads up notice to yatzr and GD reports would be wise. If they are truly interested in retaining, and hopefully adding to their player base, then they would be well advised to do this.

In fact I believe they should send a little thank you cash each year to both parties listed. They have done more over the years to keep the game running than anyone at WIS.

Thanks for everything, yatzr. Sorry to hear about your computer mishaps and regardless of whether you get a chance to look at this issue, you and Bob should know that all of your work and efforts over the years have been greatly appreciated.

I for one, do expect they/him to be aware of how the community actually uses the product we're paying for and to make every attempt not to ruin that experience, either intentionally or unintentionally. The game is not the same without Bob's reports and many just don't have the time to play the game without the tools that yatzr created. If it were me, and my user base had already fallen to barely sustainable levels, I'd make it a priority to accommodate outside parties that keep a portion of those users paying to use my product. But maybe that's just me.

We haven't done anything to specifically prevent this tool from working. I don't have any idea what it's even doing to even know what might have affected it. In the end, the responsibility would fall to the creator of the application to account for changes on our end.

There would have had to been some kind of update or change to something in GD for both their tools to suddenly stop. It's not a coincidence. I understand that it may be on their part to fix it, but it would be nice if WIS would give them a heads up into what changes were made so that they might at least know where to look. Too many coaches in this game enjoy and rely on their programs to just push it aside!!!

Seble -- his tool pulls recruiting information from your site into a java based tool that allows for easier sorting and evaluation than the tools on the GD site. It stopped working sometime late yesterday afternoon so either an update to your site or a java change that screwed it up. If you know of any code or system changes yesterday that could have done this I'm sure the group would love you to update him so he could adjust his code. Gridiron Dynasty would be essentially unplayable without this tool as the recruiting and scouting functions in the main UI are rudimentary compared to his tool.

This is not true. Plenty of people recruit quite well without the tool. Yatzr and Bhazlewood have done great work and contributed a lot, but a lot of users get by without either.

A lot of users get by is not the same as the tools are equal. My statement said the UI in GD is rudimentary compared to the YATZR tools and that is accurate. The unplayable part could be harsh but I think the value you gain in the recruiting front is extreme when using the tool versus not using. Just the ability to see green and yellow for the other teams is a key aspect I don't think is replicated in the GD UI.

I guess we will find out how it effects the games population if in fact yatzr is retired.

I know when I discovered the game it was a struggle the 1st couple of years. I asked for help. A few people offered me tips. The most common advice was to get yatzr ..and they were right. It changed everything.

Now I try and return the favor with beginners. When I ask if they use yatzr, some say yes. Others say no, they hadn't heard of it. So they try it. Universally the response is amazement at how much it helps. At how much time it saves. So many will stick around rather than quit in frustration.

I agree it isn't necessary. My Grandma doesn't have a cellphone. She doesn't feel it's necessary either. I'm sure there are many Luddites who feel the same way.

Hopefully it's just a short term fixable glitch

The only change yesterday was swapping out our site analytics package. I would expect yatzr could pretty easily diagnose the issue is he's logging errors somewhere. I can't really do anything without some idea of what's going on.

The game can be played without it, but a lot of coaches have multiple teams across the worlds and these tools make it much more manageable for them to play the game. If most are like me, they don't have that kind of time to put into it the old fashioned way. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm saying I choose not to invest the time to do it. Therefore my money and time would go elsewhere without the tools!
