If I understand correctly, pitches aren't "called" in HBD. At bats are simmed, not individual pitches. Pitch calling is merely a modifier for opponent batting average.

In a strictly "game engine calculation" sense, that is actually correct, but sometimes I will try to explain things in a more "real life example" sense.
The end result of said modifier equates to roughly .125 difference in ERA for every 10 points of PC.

I will try to remember to come back to this post once my guy hits the majors and has a few seasons under his belt. I think the guy below will end up with four exceptional MLB level pitches. It will be a while before he hits the bigs. Hopefully I can remember to let you guys know his results.
