The difficulty in repeated success in D1 in HD 3.0 is the difficulty in replacing EEs which drive sustained success. The more successful the program, the more difficult it is to replace players (at some point, you have very few seniors but lots of EEs which is almost impossible to open the number of needed recruits to replace those that leave (HD 2.0 was way easier in this regard).

Which makes my 43 consecutive seasons (and counting) at UCLA of Top 10 RPI plus Top 25 rank/SOS hard to duplicate.
that is damn impressive - just curious, there haven't been 43 seasons in 3.0 yet have there? im assuming a bit of that is a holdover from 2.0?

i think 3.0 is a lot different, and crushingly good runs at d1 are definitely a unique challenge. i probably will get off my rear end and do a set of 3.0 dynasty rankings, at some point.
Yes Phelan rolled into HD 3.0 beginning in season 99 I think so the first 10 seasons were under HD 2.0. I was at OSU in the B1G for 50+ seasons there so I can tell you its at least 10 x harder to replace elite talent now.

EE stands for Early Exit (when someone leaves your roster for the NBA so you end up having to replace them in RS2 which is way more difficult that before).

what are the most impressive runs you guys have seen in 3.0? the 5 final four in a row run from earlier sounds pretty amazing - can you post the history around that time? would be interested to see for sure.

here is the most impressive i've seen personally - although someone talked about a mid major having some REAL impressive success, i just don't recall any details. - this is UCLA in tark

5 titles and 9 final fours in 15 years - that is amazing - 33% title rate and 60% final 4 rate. i definitely think it is way harder to have such consistently exceptional recruiting in 3.0, than it was in 2.0 - and that makes dominance like piman's potentially more impressive, at least in d1 (no idea what d2/d3 impact are, could be reverse impact even). on the flip side - populations are lighter, and also with the variance in d1 recruiting, the top d1 teams on the whole are significantly less exceptional. this does make it easier to stand out with excellent coaching, and the limit of how huge a favorite you can be in a single season certainly is a lot higher than in 2.0, where there'd be a dozen teams as talented as #1 in 3.0 (or something along those lines).

6 titles + 3 x F4 is my best run over 15 seasons in HD 3.0 so far (and a rare D1 3peat in HD 3.0 and oh so close to a six peat)

Here is my entire history at Northwestern. My final four run is obviously pretty fluky, but I am still proud of it. Gillispie, you are an absolute scholar of this stuff. Amazing.

I think Crum went to 3.0 somewhere around season 86 or so.

I was a pretty god awful coach for a while until I sitemailed chapilhillne and he gave me some much needed pointers....

Don’t know how to post it like you guys have. Can someone post here or sitemail me how to do that?

Regardless, the strongest Dynasty I’ve personally witnessed was cwaldenj’s dynasty at Ozarks. I think it’s majorly slept on in the forums.

Here’s the link (seasons 116-125):

6 titles (including 2 three-peats), 3 NC games, and 1 F4. Pretty incredible run.

that is unreal - a stretch of 12 straight final 4s, even with 2 of them being ab's. that makes cjwalden's 10 season run 10 final fours, 9 title games, and 6 titles. that is insane! with ab's 2 years, 12 final fours and 7 titles in 12 seasons. wow.

p.s. to paste it, i just copy off the history page of the team, and paste it here, and it comes across pretty good like this.

I went to 5 straight Final Fours with Northwestern in Crum. 3 title games, one National Championship. Am pretty darn proud of that considering the volatility of HD version 3.0.

I only have a team in one world, so I don’t know if they sustained success has been replicated anywhere else. Maybe it’s not that unusual.
Illinois

I win away last year from tying you. I also had 1 NC, and 3 NC games in that span. Obviously, an A+ prestige I inherited in great shape makes it a little less impressive.

I'd like to think what makes it more impressive is there are 3 times in the past 6 years I've had all but 1 of my returning players on the big board at the start of the year. I've had 11 draft picks the past 5 years.

My college resume pales in comparison to many. However, I'll throw in something for diversity across WIS sports:

College Basketball - Two time D3 champion
SIM Basketball - 1 championship
SIM baseball - 4 championships, 1 championship's league title
Hardball - 2 championships
