darnoc29099: "Also, the 80% thing is just a general rule of thumb. In 2.0, I had a guy transfer after starting 25/26 games"

This blows my mind. I feel like I must have promised starts 100 times (heck, maybe 200) and almost always started them 21 or 22 times and never had any complain or lose WE. .... never. I guess there is some very small percent they can leave and I was just lucky.

I really havent promised much lately, so no idea if things have changed, but I used to do it nearly every season and never ever had an issue with 80% rule.
For that matter the 80% rule on minutes never failed me either.

Not only does every player react differently but to be safe you need to maintain the 80%+ rule for the entire regular season or it could cost you. I had one guy transfer on my PBA D3 team after starting 22 of 26 games but I had let him sit out a few harder non-conference games that season and dropped below 80% briefly.

And no, I never got an 'everything is ok now' email from the player.

If you wish check out this previous post where I posted some conversation with customer service.

im with you, it almost has to have been post change. bugs are possible too. pretty much every promise i ever had before the change, i don't know if i met one in my life! never lost a guy. but i do think people are thinking this all changed in 3.0 - i'm pretty sure that's wrong, that the 80% rule fell before 3.0 was in the works. seble was disgruntled with multiple aspects of promises, the fact that we used them as meaningless garbage early in recruiting (the $110 special etc), the 80% part, how they were totally irrelevant to the post season - he basically thought the entire thing was a joke (not an unreasonable stance).

anyone know where the old changelog is? all i found a couple days ago looking for something else was some stupid changes in 3.0 thread that only went back a few years.

Yeah, it was one of those fluky things that only happened once and like you, I handed out promises like candy. I also promised a decent handful of recruits starts + 20 minutes just to sign my 12th guy to preserve carry over recruiting money, never started that guy and rarely did they ever play more than 5 minutes a game and those bastards stayed after the season was over.

what? that is insane. i did that too but 100% of those guys quit on me! i guess the promises stuff always went as i expected, so maybe im being closed-minded about how it worked.

I think I will find out first hand. Had a Start promise, and put him to backup slot for what was supposed to be one game. After three and his FIRST email, he told me his problem was now my problem. And this was early in the season. I fully expect him to walk as his WE is NOT bouncing back, and even though he will start 22 of 25 games I am planning on a next season without him.

The email sure did not come on this one. He did not even drop more than 1 WE, and It was a subtle drop. When he left, he insulted me like others. The other one I lost in DII, I had the email, I changed my lineup and fulfilled my promises. But the second email saying thanks or something like that, comes at the same time… So if you did not fulfill the promise by that email, I guess you are doomed, which was what happened at WNMU. I had at least two guys stay when I did not fulfill my promises… and did not care losing them. So it's really random.

did you start him the game after his complaint or did you also miss one there? if the former, its a really good case study!
