redcped has a team that's 3 standard deviations better than the average team in the tournament, while brianjw has the best average team.

I think redcped gets a bit unfairly punished by the stdev measure. His 110M team is so good that it increases the stdev a fair bit all on its own. And that in turn means by this measure he gets less credit for it.

It's too much hassle to be worth doing, but it feels like a better measure of a team is to take the mean and stdev of the other 23 teams, and measure how well each team does compared to that. It would make approximately zero difference for all normal teams, but could make a bit of a difference for real outliers.

I'll honestly be surprised if that team ends up with the best record across all the leagues. Only a few wins ahead of a couple others already, and it's bound to regress to a more realistic performance level anyway.

Yeah this is fair

Not a big surprise that brianjw is back on top.

He is averaging roughly 90 wins per team against the best of the best. Amazing.

I will finish somewhere between 2nd and 4th but at least I have the bragging rights that I won the most combined regular season games in rounds 1-2.

Another underwhelming playoff performance (both rounds) did me in. Maybe I am doing something wrong with the roster building, focusing too much on regular season and not playoffs. Maybe downgrade SP4 and upgrade SP1. Maybe buy fewer IP and use more 200k mopup guys and use the $$$ to upgrade elsewhere.

Congrats to brianjw, the first 4x Champion of the WISC!

Brian had no teams win fewer than 85 games in Round 2, and that consistency let him rise from 10th in Round 1 to a victory
