When the original owners owned the site, they ran ad on ESPN and that's when the site first blew up.

Strikeout, you need to elaborate on that. Blew up can mean two different things, and you didn't mention FOX.

My bad. When the original developers had the game in the early days, they ran an ad on ESPN during the WS. Their customer base increased probably 4-fold or more almost over night (all from one ad).

The site in general was just insane (in a good way) back when I started.

I remember how I found out about this site was the NHL was on strike in 2005 so they simulated the season. Now that is a way to get new customers!

back in the mid 2000’s they had tooooons of stuff. WIS championships, awards. The site was huge. It’s a shame because inactivity is really what has us where we are now. It’s really a miracle as many leagues In each sport are open.

The developer chats were always a big hit. It could return to its former glory without a ton of effort in my opinion. The originals got involved with the customers (in a good way). They didn't pop in once every six months to threaten to ban customers and then disappear again.

They would even interview owners in different sports. Those were always fun reads.

Man! That does sound cool. I wish I was around then.

I think some folks already clarified my point for me, but I’m saying it would be a commish and active world issue. If your world has a half dozen openings for a certain amount of time (week, two weeks, month, whatever), then just fold it and let the owners get into a new world. More guys are going to put $25 into a new world than say “I’m quitting because I really liked my team.” It’s a supply and demand issue. We have a lot of supply and little demand. WIS isn’t helping the demand, but they could help with supply. It’s a fun topic, but moot, because they’re content keeping your $25 while your world takes two months to fill.
