Also, we could move in safe, non-freak-out baby steps to improve things...
And a main agreement would be that we'd stick with 12 teams in each conference, and work from there.
(Though, if we moved to current NCAA mixed-size conferences, realignment coyld be done today).
One initial good one, for example, a really easy adjustment, i think, is a quick 3-way rotation:
Move: West Virginia from Big East to Big-12.
Move: Nebraska from Big-12 to Big Ten.
Move: Notre Dame from Big Ten to Big East.
An argument against this swap is that owners would flip out that they'd lose their human rivals. When i was new here, i conceded that argument cuz i didn't have a ton of experience. Now 7 years into this game, the human rivals thing to me is a pretty minor deal. Humans move around a lot. I've been in Crum Big East for 30 seasons... i think only Pitt and UConn humans have been there longer... UConn's owner has discussed leaving, but it would have to be to another A+ prestige school... but he's not tied to UConn for the specific conference. The Pitt human could also give 2 snots about needing to retain his rivalry with me and UConn.
West Virginia and Notre Dame would actually both benefit because they'd leave conference-rival-crowded recruiting grounds, and would both stay in Big Six conferences.
