The 2020/2021 Tournament: Round Two Particulars Topic

I was doing some analysis on the five-year increments of the teams... and came across this somewhat unbelievable tidbit... I thought I had an error in my formula.

This is not a misprint. The top two National League teams each had essentially the exact same record in each of the two 5-year increments.

That's one of those weird bits of information that would win you a bar bet with another baseball junkie. Just like the fact that the "arguably" greatest hitter of all time (Ted Williams) never had 200 hits in any season (mainly because he walked so much).

What about the Houston Astros post 2013?

Yeah, I noticed earlier today that I left them off of the list in this thread. I've added them to the draft threads where needed.

Just to be clear are combined seasons OK as long as they are identified as the team I am using?
6/9/2020 6:58 AM
Yes.

To clarify for roster building, it says we "can" take three free agents from our second team.

Must we?

I mean, if my second franchise only has 1 or 2 guys I want, can I take fewer than 3?

"From the franchise you choose, you can select three players (could be one pitcher and two position players, two pitchers and one position player or three pitchers and no position players or three position players and no pitchers). You don’t need to name which three players you plan on using – just the franchise."

Honestly, I know I didn't say you MUST select three players but the spirit of the theme was to take three players. If there were enough people that takes issue with this, I could possibly be swayed to make it your choice - but the intent was for 22 players from your original selection and 3 from your Free Agent selection. Is you Free Agent team that bad that you can't find a relief pitcher or one or two good bench players?

I certainly assumed that the expectation was we would all be taking 3 players from the FA team.
6/13/2020 10:27 AM
Same. And Id actually be surprised if the 23rd best player from your initial team was more valuable than the 3rd best player from your FA franchise. Especially with no cap.

I was just staring at the 01-05 Browns/Brewers and the 51-55 Browns/Orioles and not seeing much of anything exciting. Certainly I'll find a way to use three players, but I built one of the rosters and realized I only had 2 FA and started wondering ... It was more of a statement on the quality of these teams than a question.

If I looked at each division draft separately, so picks 1 thru 4 within each division, along with the free agent pick. Pick (a) represents the first free agent pick. Pick (d) is the last free agent pick.
