MikeT...that dude was just an a-hole through and through. Argued just to argue and was an a** about it as well. I think the Forums are more user-friendly now...no doubt.

MikeT..... agreed. Just the amount of comments was enough with him. I think he commented on every thread ever created during his tenure. Things he didn't know about. Things he wasn't involved in. Things he never experienced. And all that was just an add on to the fact that he was a douche bag.

And a bonus coach, thewizard17. I never crossed paths with him in the game. But we wrestled here a couple times. He was just an interesting HD character. Not really bad here in the forums. But just a lot of HD things that were odd has his name written all over it (CC meltdowns, WE "button mashing" as someone described it in the past!, etc). Him and MikeT were an ugly mix.

And my next award goes to my favorite Coach's Corner coaches. It's a dual award. Mully is great with the commentary and one liners! And my "star" of the day is irrev0cable. There's more stars printed in his coach's corners than there are in a moonlit sky on a clear night! I enjoy his meltdowns as much as I enjoy my own meltdowns!

I hate to say it, but I even love all the guys that I've listed in this comment! They definitely kept/keep entertainment value in HD.

I can only speak for myself here, as someone who used to frequent the forums quite a bit. I'm spending more time in conference chats these days. I'm in three pretty full, pretty active conferences.

So the game doesn't feel as desolate to me as it probably is.

I just wish you guys who weren't here at the beginning of HD had been around at that time. This forum was lit. You could come back after a couple hours and have to scroll 2 pages to see all the new messages. But the all time favorite person on this forum is plumpy. He was the best and I often wish he would start playing again. I do miss a lot of the veterans from the beginning of this game.

But then we'll turn around and have helpful sitemail communication that same day. The only one I haven't actually had helpful sitemails with is kc, and I would have no problem doing so! We just don't happen to cross paths ever in the game of HD.

Point is, I think everyone here is actually pretty cool for the most part. And I don't think the bickering is "real". It's more like having two brothers. If you have an argument with one and he hits you with a baseball bat, you know to just leave that brother alone when it comes to arguing about stuff. But the other brother, you guys always go back and forth with your arguments but you both always come back for more. So you know which one you can torment and you know which one not to.

I don't think anyone here REALLY dislikes each other. It's entertaining to debate things.

I do have to admit, I did love antagonizing vegaskevin back in the day about his website. I don't even remember what the website was about, but I used to love to harass him about it.

I'm relatively new (joined in early 2015, when WIS was already past its prime, I suspect.), and I really wish I had found the game sooner. The "old days" always sound so good in the retelling.

I'm relatively new (joined in early 2015, when WIS was already past its prime, I suspect.), and I really wish I had found the game sooner. The "old days" always sound so good in the retelling.

For the first few years of HD's existence, when you'd open the website, the HD home page would play a very distinctive three-second musical riff.

It was an odd user experience choice, but it also alerted me to a couple of my real life buddies being HD players.

Knowing normal dudes played the game was a big deal, because even back then, the message boards were a weird subculture.

mikeT is basically what you'd get if etta went through a few years of shock therapy. he would be a good example for a toned down version. etta wasn't unintelligent but i've never seen a guy work so hard to be stupid. not really in an out of touch, college educated idiot way... i don't know. its more like he thought he was a genius or something. kind of like if i thought i was anthony davis on the court, but getting regularly dunked on in my cul-de-sac game with the local middle aged white dads did nothing to penetrate my delusion. and just in general he was more aggressive than mikeT in basically every way (more posts, more intentionally confrontational, more outrageous in his claims, the works). he's the only guy i can think of who got banned purely for being a colossal jackass on the forums.

I think etta was actually incredibly intelligent, but to Gil's point, the dude couldn't get out of his own way. He just loved to pick fights and would argue his points to the death. He had an idea of how the game *should* work and when we tried to explain to him why it didn't work that way and how it actually worked we'd get a 10,000 word thesis on why HD, WIS, and we were all idiots.

Another one was bistiza. Once he dug in and made a stance about something he'd argue it to the death, no matter how idiotic it was. Then a week later he'd go and remove all of his posts from those threads, lol. Again, just odd.

Last, I wasn't around for the heyday of colonels19, but he sounded....interesting.

There's NO WAY he had more posts. Find a message from him. I gotta see these numbers! MikeT had like 52,000+ literally!

i generally agree but man i really hated that ettaexpress guy. that guy was the absolute worst.
