Thanks, gillespie-- those are really good points you make. I didn't think through it before, but what you said about the few extra points of work ethic makes a lot of sense-- since work ethic impacts its own improvement (at least up to a point), there's some degree of exponential growth at the smallest values. The depth requirement of a fullcourt press is another very good point. Fortunately this guy is decent enough with his base ratings (at least relative to my team) that I wouldn't feel *terrible* giving him 10-15 minutes off the bench, but it's definitely a bigger price to pay.
well, that's good he has good starting ratings - that helps a lot! i personally find those project types (whether low WE or not) are most tolerable when at least they are decent defenders. i can sort of wait on the rest, have the other 4 guys cover those other skills.
i also don't mean to be overly picky in my earlier post. in general, due to the high risk low to medium reward setup of low WE players, newer folks tend to recruit ones who should be passed over. but especially at a new program, its not necessary every player is great. solid to good can be fine. so the 9 WE guy might be fine - guess you'll find out - as long as you prioritize his cores and accept now he won't get the misc. stuff, he'll probably be at least decent for you. plus its a good experience getting one of these edge case guys to see how development works at that low WE.
