I have seen some older but never that good. I hope he hits a ton, he could easily be a .400 hitter and 200 RBI guy I think!
1) Um, nope-- not in C Springs, anyway. I have him in a neutral park at .320/.390/.600. I don't think anyone can hit .400 in HBD except in case of massive fluke. In the right offense, in the right park, he could get 200 RBI.
2) But screw the "best IFA ever" stuff-- given that he can play 2B he may the best position player I've ever seen, full stop. Worth every penny of the $30M and then some. This is a max contract guy that you're going to get to control through his age 35 season paying peanuts for the first 5 seasons and probably no more than half a max contract for the other 6. Well done.
I was just thinking he will be a great hitter for sure but being able to pay pennies on the dollar until he’s 35 will be unreal... he speeds up my rebuild which were already a year ahead and now next year we may be ready... can’t believe he ended up being almost exactly what he was projected!

I just looked at career batting average records in all eight of my Worlds. There were two guys that had a career .360 batting average. Both played in hitters parks. Both players had better pure hitting ratings than the 25 year old IFA subject. Bill Hall had a rating of 100 in both splits and 90+ in both contact and eye and never got over the .400 avg in a single season. Yamil had less impressive ratings, but was a switch hitter and he never hit over .400 in a single season either.

I think if you had a guy that was 95+ across the board in pure hitting ratings, 95+ speed, batted from both sides and played his entire career in Colorado, Sante Fe or Albuequerque, it MIGHT be possible to get a guy over 400 batting average in a handful of seasons. However, I would bet that even a guy like that would still be a .375 hitter over his career because he'll likely play big league ball past the age of 37 and those final few seasons will hurt his career average. Also, speed will wane on the avg as well once that starts slipping.

Lol Hall had a 4 health rating? That’s the lowest I’ve ever seen. Surprised he was able to play as much as he did

May I introduce you to Leo Egan, who not only had 1 400 season, he had 9.... in a row!

I was wondering when Leo Egan would show up.

Traded 2 seasons after drafted. Yeah that guy lost the trade lol

I hope Shibata can play that long! He’s already scored as many runs as games through 13... were 10-3 since we got him!

Why would you ever trade Egan? You'd need like 3 SP1 pitchers in return to make that even remotely fair. I guess Egan also shows the max possible for player records. is 1000 HR's and 3000 RBI's a bridge too far?

Whoever traded him must have been very new to this game!

I’d say that guy that made that trade didn’t lose... here’s the main guy of 3 he got for Egan.... he hit 900+ HRs also and had a career .346 avg.... what an unreal league was this during the steroid era LMAO JESUS CHRIST

Did Egan play in the steroid era of HBD or is he a legit example of how a player can still perform in 2021 HBD?

can anyone confirm when the steroid era ended in hbd?

Funny how this guy had nearly all the attributes I mentioned and still had a career avg of about .378. Still wonder if this was steroid era performance or if these ratings hold up in today's HBD.
1/26/2021 12:27 AM
Also, would it help the batting average stat if a player has 95 + splits and contact, but only 80 batting eye as opposed to 95+ batting eye?
