Patch Notes - April 15th, 2021 Topic

So now a nonqualifier will have to satisfy the promise whenever he starts to play?

This is a BIG change to ineligible player recruiting - need to tell people - beyond cryptic patch note.

Historically, the risk in a promise to a nonqualifier was that he might qualify and the promise would bite. This changes the calculus in a big way.

Adam, by the way the green color is now too light.

I don't know if this would be possible, but can you make it so we can write in somewhere what each color means to our team. A title of sort.
Like: Green - Top prospect
Blue - ML prospect. etc. Something to name what they mean, so the next person who owns the team will know what is what.

Also, be able to use the colored dots on other teams rosters in order to easily identify a player we may want to try and trade for in the future without having to go look over everyone all the time. Thanks for the updates.

The star in the Big Board in HD is nifty. I take it, once EEs declare they will have the star? Has always been a pain not to have that info available.

One suggestion on the star - would be nice if one could sort by the star - as one can the other columns.

The change for nonqualifiers is out of the blue and potentially painful for folks currently recruiting ineligibles. Does it apply to ineligibles who are currently sitting out a season in DI?

Adam,

Is it true that this will affect the Rockne signings that were made before you announced the patch? If this is so, I really do not see how this is fair when people recruited based on the old rules. I have ZERO issue with the new penalty for redshirting a promised PT player, but it’s a bit harsh to put that rule into effect after signings have been made and before recruiting has ended.
Unfortunately you can thank the old development teams for not coding the world to hold different version of the code that's ideally when I would like to do these updates, in the offseason but its not technically possible. Unfortunately a necessary change like this one was going to impact a world no matter what, it just happened to be Rockne and everyone will be impacted by it, so that is unfortunately the fairest way to deal with it.
You couldn't have given us a warning??? That has nothing to do with the old development teams. So now because your end didn't give us, the people who PAY to play this game, a heads up a week ago alerting us of what was coming, get screwed??? My next few years in Rockne will be shot because I can't RS my 75% PT QB. So I've got to play a true freshman QB all of the time, which greatly diminishes my chances of winning in a season that I paid money for??? Does this even remotely seem fair???

Check out the coach majique YouTube vids. They discuss this at length.

$5 million is a start but still not good enough. Needs to be $8 million for budgets. Still ridiculously low. Shouldn't take 4-5 seasons to get from one end to the other. Dots aren't showing up as different colors as of yet. All new dots look like baseballs?
Based on forum posts, I dont think we'll have a consensus on this topic. In fact, I'll bet that some won't be happy it was touched at all.

I'm fine with 5, but I was also fine with four. I think 8 or more would be too much. It would be unrealistic and cause downstream problems like new players allocating 18 million to advanced scouting in their first year. If they're lucky enough to realize the mistake by the end of their first year, they can move it back down to 10, but by then, they already waisted 28 million in their first two seasons.

I would be for upping it to 8 or more on the downside, but not on the upside. You can't hire an elite scouting staff over night in real life, but you can certainly reduce staff in real life.

The change really had nothing to do about transitioning teams. You should now be able to get your budget where you want it in 2 seasons from joining a squad. Making it so you can go from $10 to $20 million in 2 seasons rather than 3 was the primary goal of the adjustment. If you want to go from 20 to 0 in a category in the offseason, leave your team, rejoin and grab the default budget.

There are work arounds.

Sincerely,

Adam

Boom! Adam just dropped a clever work around.

Nice work.

Love the updates and the attention being paid to the games. Thanks so much.

Not a giant fan of the new yellow dot color being used in HBD, it's too bright and gets washed out. The more maize yellow that had previously been used (and still is in the HD recruiting section) scans easier.

Like the update for the SIM. Wanted to point out that the projected (overall) slugging is incorrect. Hope it is a quick fix!

I think *but haven’t had the time to check it * the error comes from calculating the projected stats with the actual PA/AB

The number is very off though, be interesting to see what it was...

I agree Completely with TY, we should be warned an it should start next season! We do pay for this an I for 1 am going to have a bad taste in my mouth if several months are flushed down the drain be cause i manipulated the game that is going on by a huge number of people in every world an I don't think any1 has really seen this patch update cuz it wasn't in the standings chat like the last few! There is going to be a lot of unhappy players ___________________BTW lonniemc In DIII SCAC is the 1 who snitched to adam about all this

Let me see if I understand this correctly... What you're essentially saying is...

"I knowingly exploited a bug that the old development team never fixed, and I'm mad that I wasn't given ample warning that this bug I was taking advantage of this entire time, is now biting me in the butt."

Gotcha... Sounds like you made out like a bandit for a long time, and have to deal with ONE season... If anything, you owe Whatifsports some money, lol.

Seriously... A ton of people knowingly took advantage of this for literal years.... Grow up... If you're actually having success, it's likely you didn't even pay for the season you're complaining about with your own money. lol

I've only been in GD for about a year and most of the veterans, if not all, know about this loophole. I have no problem with it being fixed, but it will affect the recruits in one world where they were already recruited and signed before the patch was announced. We aren't the only two coaches who have used this on a regular basis...trust me.
