So if I'm reading this correctly the answer to
"If Ma'Khia was attacking YOUR child"?

So far there's two of you who are responding with:
"I'd like for him to try and stop my child's attacker with a taser first"?

Is that accurate?
Yes. 100%.
Completely agree
I have a child. If someone was attacking him when he was a teen and there was an officer present, of course I'd want that officer to prevent my son from harm. I still question why tasering wasn't an option, or at least less shots to incapacitate, instead of four to kill. Maybe there is a good reason. Let's wait for ALL the facts before either crucifying or applauding the officer.

It's rare when all3 and I are in complete agreement

then why all this talk about whether shots were called for or a taser and all the talk about the fact that the age of the girl should influence the officer if you don’t know the facts.

I don’t get it.

Once Captain Kirk accidentally hit kill on his phaser instead of stun. He was on administrative leave for an entire season.

I for one don’t have enough information on this one.
I don’t care about the age of the girl after the fact.
she was a big girl and her age was not the relevant issue even if the officer was privy to knowing it.
I want to know how close she was to the woman she was allegedly attacking and was she in motion.
was an attack likely or imminent and again what was the proximity.
Also it is highly relevant if she already stabbed someone.
sldo I want to know how close was the police officer. Was he even close enough to be able to successfully taser her before she stabbed someone.
It could have been a split second window of thinking.

im not going to prematurely come to a conclusion on this one.
and it certainly does not sound like murder or manslaughter from what I do know but I need to hear much more.
Yes. She looked to be in the very act of swinging her knife- weilding arm when the officer fired.

10tv.com/video/news yada yada

No one will clink a link so I wont bother typing the whole thing but there are at least a couple of body cam videos out already.

The responding officers rolled up on quite a scene. A fight is already happening, a man is kicking a downed woman and Ma'Khia is in the process of attacking another girl with a knife.

Search " Columbus police release more bodycam video in the fatal shooting of Ma'Khia Bryant" channel 10 WBNS is where i saw it.

Thanks.
People have to be smart and open minded as well as open hearted.
knee jerk reactions are dangerous.
People need to instinctively want to search out the facts and look at the salient issues before dropping the guilltine on their conclusion.
And yes they days that police officers are automatically believed is over but that doesn’t open the door to the civilians automatically being believed.

Just Gimmie Some Truth.

Seriously. If anyone can watch that footage and draw the conclusion "yep just another example of systemic racism", then i have no interest in hearing anything else from them.

There is systemic and or pervasive racism in some places but every situation stands on its own.

Tang, this is EXACTLY how Jen Psaki characterized it. She called it an example of systemic racism. Ole Biden himself essentially concurred.

Why is our President trying to inflame tensions rather than soothe them and call for rationality and understanding? Why do we always have to divide ourselves by race? I'm frankly sick of it.

as far as I know, Jen Psaki and Joe Biden are not on whatifsports. If you could read, you'd notice than tang said no one HERE has made that statement

I looked at her comments, and while she didn't directly say what you are alleging, she did strongly imply that this was an example of systemic racism. So I'll give you that. Those comments were probably irresponsible. But did they really inflame racial tensions? I doubt it. They were extremely mild.

It boggles my mind that someone who rooted so hard for Trump is talking about wanting to have a President that doesn't inflame racial tensions and calls for understanding and rationality.

Trump was, is, and will be an idiot. If I have ever implied support for him it was out of an even greater fear of the radical left that is seeking to completely upend our constitution and our country.

The more I think about it, the more I think conservatism is an absolutely doomed project. And the more I think about capitalism, the more I despise it and the more I realize that the Democrats are now the corporate (and thus capitalistic) political party of this country. I don't think there is a current workable solution available.

We need new leaders and new ideas to emerge. These old ones don't work and they are getting ever more dangerous by the minute (Democrats are the real fascists. I mean this sincerely. Look at ALL the power grabs being proposed. Court Packing, ending the filibuster, the 51st state, greater and greater control of social media etc. It should be scary - these expert gaslighters are going for broke.)

Look at all the power grabs being passed in state legislatures, you lying *******.

Look at our AG who should be on the Supreme Court.

These proposals are responses to the gerrymandering power grabs republicans have performed for the past 10-20 years.

Also, DC being a state would be representation for them. That’s not a power grab, it’s democracy. Ending the filibuster, also, democracy - it’s been misused and abused throughout its actual short history in the senate.
