Here's the situation: you're asleep. It's the early morning. Suddenly you hear loud yelling, a group of men are pointing a gun at you. Immediately, you reach for your gun and grab it (BECAUSE YOU'RE A LEGAL GUN OWNER IN A COUNTRY THAT HAS A 2ND AMENDMENT). Boom, in a split second you're dead.

Keep in mind that you're asleep at the beginning of this; the police don't give you the opportunity to get your bearings. As far as you are aware, a bunch of armed people have charged into your home.


That's what happened to Amir Locke. He was murdered by the police.

The simple solution, of course, is to simply knock. It gives the person inside the home the full knowledge of the situation and keeps both sides out of as much danger as possible. Not knocking puts the police in danger because if someone has a gun, they're going to be startled and start defending themself, as is their GOD DAMN AMERICAN RIGHT. That's what happened to Amir Locke and that's what happened to Breonna Taylor.

you point a gun at a cop or attack a cop with a knife, yes, you will most likely be shot. And you would probably deserve it. If you think the only time police shoot someone (be they black, white or any other color) is when the person is aiming a gun or attacking them with a knife, you are sadly delusional. I think most cops do the job as well as they can (and it is a very tough job), but just like any career you can mention, there are folks who should definitely not be cops, just like there are folks who should not be customer service reps, or lawyers, or doctors.
Personally I support the police. The police should not be defunded, but the funds should be put to better use than just buying the police bigger guns and newer cars. Police need more training, especially in dealing with the mentally ill.

And the danger the cops feel when doing no knock warrants.

This happens to whites too. Don't think it doesnt.
It does happen to African Americans significantly more often because of racial bias but i dont think out of racial hatred.

It is not a white vs black or just a black/ white issue.
It is more then one thing.

And I left out the crucial thing that in these shootings the cops are doing the search wrong and not by training and regulation. That is where it starts and then the other stuff comes in even more.

I think cops are scared to death about these types of searches.

Obviously the police aren't going into these interactions hoping to murder someone. You're correct that the no-knock warrants put police in danger. I doubt Locke would have grabbed the gun if he knew what was going on fully at the time. He was woken up by a bunch of people yelling with guns.

This is a guy who had no criminal history, who we have no evidence did anything wrong really besides be in the wrong place at the wrong time, yet conservatives seem to assume that had the police knocked he'd be trying to murder all of them. I wonder why that is? (It's probably the race. It's almost certainly the race.)

Meanwhile, a white person tries to jump through a barricade to chase after fleeing congresspeople during a riot, gets shot, and conservatives call for the cop to be arrested
