Fully agree. Going to do this time (if I even make it) the same as previous.

1. Do nothing and wait to see how late I can pick (I have never picked earlier than 19th yet)
2. Pour a phat Crown Royal Apple/Diet Pepsi. Drink it fast.
3. Pour Another and start the draft.
4. Repeat steps 3 as necessary until complete with the goal being finish in 90 minutes.
5. Check next day to see if my roster meets requirements. If not Repeat step 3.

With respect to research and coming up with a draft strategy, there's not a lot that can be done. I can certainly piggy-back off the team-by-team work I did for this current round (i.e., that is knowing which teams are loaded with useable players - I can use the same matrix I used in round 3). But there's just too many variables to even try to predict what will be available in rounds 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

With a max of 5 players coming from your first selection, it carries less importance anyway. I'll probably go through each grouping at some point and pick out my top 2-3 seasons from each one and maybe try to have a priority pick in case I'm in the top 14 or close to it.

But since I'm likely to only have to draft from 6-7 franchises, I can't see doing a deep dive into all of them in advance.

Draft order question, as I’m itching to start a team: my best team finished in 16th, 2 spots out of the top 14. I see that a bunch of the picks in the top 14 so far have been repeat team (Dodgers, Yankees) and so some teams will not be picked at all in the top 14. Does that mean that I am likely to be placed in a league with an unclaimed team? As in , do the next best teams get preferential league placement?

The general algorithm that juice uses is to fill the leagues that are not selected first. So assuming not all seven leagues have exactly 2 owners in each league, it's common for the 15th and 16th ranked owners to get the first or second pick in one of the short-handed leagues. Once all the league are equal in terms of owners, then your pick # is essentially tied to your final ranking.

So assuming no league has 4 picks from the top 14, then I would expect the top 21 ranked owners will be spread over the seven leagues. Then those ranked 22nd thru 28th will have a 4th round pick in one of the leagues, those ranked 29th thru 35th will have a 5th round pick in one of the leagues, etc.

If you don't like which league you ended up in, that's why we have the 24-hour trade window.

As someone last round that had a few teams barely miss the top 20 I can tell the above was untrue. Teams that finished behind me had top picks while my teams had 4th and 5th picks. It was straight #21 for league 1, #22 for league 2, etc., without any consideration to how many, if any, of the top 20 had already selected those leagues.

Now, that sounds like bitter grapes and it’s not - I just wanted to answer emanes’ question, at least how it was done last time.

My teams sucked and that had nothing to do with draft order, just poor team building by the owner.

RTG - here are the top 4 rounds for juice's Round 3 draft. I inserted the team's final ranking from round 2. Your highest ranked team was 36 and your teams was appropriately assigned a 4th round pick. I highlighted the top 20 picks. As you can see, owner #21 got first pick in the un-selected league. 22 thru 25 got #2 picks, 26 thru 31 got #3 picks.

My apologies and I stand corrected. My complaints last season to others were that I had one team finish 29th and was picking fourth and two teams finish in the 40s and picking sixth. I must have been going off the game 160 standings? Or something? Maybe I’m just an idiot?

In general, I’d like to forget round 3 completely. All four of my teams underperformed. Three started off quite well and then cratered. The team I thought beforehand was the best of my bunch and started off well, ended up missing Round 4 by a few expected percentage points.

I was just thinking that if we pick up the pace in leagues 2, 3, 5.... you could be due up in all 7 leagues :

Communicated with thejuice6 last night. He should be back sometime tomorrow evening. As we get near the end of the first round, juice's picks (in each league) will be due up, so we'll have to wait for him to catch up.

As each league's first round ends, the division alignment will be set. I will be reformatting the draft board to split up the N.L. and A.L. drafts since those drafting in the N.L. won't have to wait for A.L. teams and vice versa.

Also, since we have to pick one season from each of the six groups, it's possible that you may able to skip somebody if he can't take a season from the group you are selecting from. I expect that rounds 2-6 will go by much quicker than round 1.

I know I'm up in a few leagues...I won't be able to make my picks for about 2 hours. If it makes sense to skip me, no worries, I will make up my picks as soon as I can!

We won't skip you... We've waited longer than 2 hours for others. We can wait.
