Do you mean under the World Series Results section where it says:

Click here for the league spreadsheet.

or is there a link somewhere else?

The "League Spreadsheet" link hasn't worked in some time (at least when I tried using it). If you want the spreadsheets, send a ticket to admin and they will create the spreadsheets for you.

Apparently, not enough people have asked for this (or complained enough) so they are in no rush to fix it.

I am now seeing the following on the league office page for the first time:

Download Spreadsheets
Spreadsheet:
Season:

All Spreadsheets is a single zip containing every sheet for both regular season and playoffs, so the Season setting does not apply to it.
For the individual sheets, Season applies to batting, pitching and fielding. The playoff, schedule and standings sheets are season-specific already and ignore it.

OK, I see it now. It only downloads the current season, so there is no catching up for previously completed related seasons . But at least it works again!!

Want to talk about trap guys in progressives? The guys that look good but end up not helping teams win?

Something like the slighty above average OF's in double season progressives? The dudes that are just a little better league average for multiple years in a row so you take them and they end up hitting 7th and hitting .260 for forever.

Greg Gagne -SS.

actually above average for his salary and a solid pickup if in a league that uses a draft formula. But otherwise very much mid.

However at SS if you have a guy who can lock down the position for 10 years those guys have some value. Then you do not NEED to get a SS in a particular draft. You can always look for an upgrade if its there but its not a must.

My guy recently who fits this mold has been Dan Gladen. Very much an average guy but he has been the starting LF on my 88 and 90 championship teams batting at the bottom of the line up. Left me in a similar spot of hes fine and if I can find an upgrade that works but if not he will do.

This is probably one of the most important ideas that differentiates the truly great progressive owners: their understanding of replacement value. Knowing who to keep, cut, draft. Which can vary significantly from league to league based on size of the player pool, number of prog teams in the league, and any additional rules like salary-based draft formulas, contract/salary caps, etc. The same player who is a solid long-term guy in one league becomes an albatross in another. Great owners understand this concept and ruthlessly build their rosters around it.

I totally agree w/ C23 here. This is a stats/probability game. Things like leadership/intangibles from RL do NOT matter. Many times I have traded a "name" player for a haul of players that made my team better or guys who would rather lose with a legend than actually address holes they have. I once traded Mike Schmidt lottery pick one year for a lower 1st, 2nd, Buddy Bell, Jim Rooker. I was told I was crazy for doing the deal.

Schmidt had a HoF career in that league. Here is what I got.
  • Buddy Bell 10+ seasons at 3B (4 GG, .290 average, 900 RBI.)
  • 1st was an OF (Gary Matthews I think) who hit .290 / great OBP for a 7-8 years.
  • SP (Jim Rooker) went 60-20 in 4 seasons.
  • 2nd SP (Montefusco) who had 2 very good seasons for me.
Won a couple of titles, made playoffs 5+ times....the guy who got Schmidt won a couple MVPs and made it to one playoff in 10yrs. Who Won that trade?

Id argue that you both did if you got the enjoyment of the game. Not everyone is playng to win a championship. Sometimes guys just like playing with players from their youth etc.

More of a random thought than a question but perhaps the SIM would be more accurate given that we are simulating the games in modern times, that defenders who had no, or crappy gloves, ( pre-1910? ) had their defense grades majorly upgraded, vs. simulating their defense when they used none or terrible gloves.

Here's a question. What in the world can we spend game credit money on that isn't reduced by half, please?

LMAO!

Maybe they should allow us to pay for half the cost of the games themselves. That would then equal what THEY think their games are really worth............ based on their credit/reward system.

It does seem a VERY strange policy considering we can't get many NEW owners to even stick around long enough to maybe win something.
The player pool just keeps dwindling and dwindling.
This policy change has just accelerated that sorry fact!
