Heartland Conference...Supreme Topic

Hard to believe that the top two teams in the north are fighting for NT spots. When's the last time that happened in the #1 Conference?
8/6/2007 7:10 PM
Quarterfinals:
Hanover 102; Philadelphia Biblical 93
Defiance 79; Transylvania 65
Bluffton 64; Westminster 62
Manchester 80; Waynesburg 74
SEMIS:
Manchester (RPI 43) vs. Defiance (RPI 46)
Hanover (RPI 32) vs. Bluffton (RPI 47)
Previously, Defiance swept Manchester, winning 105-94 and 84-69. Hanover also beat Bluffton twice, 83-80 and 95-88.
Transylvania and Westminster, despite losing, are 'locks' for the tournament.
All remaining teams are from the North division of the conference. It's very difficult to get 4 teams from the same division into the NT. The South division accomplished it once previously. All 4 teams are deserving. Good luck!

SEMIS
Manchester 77; Defiance 72
Bluffton 86; Hanover 80
FINAL
Manchester vs. Bluffton. Manchester won both previous bouts, 97-94 and 95-70.
This has been a magical season for Coach commish118 and the Manchester Spartans....
* Only their 4th winning season in history;
* their 1st 20-win season;
* 1st division title;
*1st conference tournament final;
* 1st Heartland 'Coach of the Year' award
* apparently, their 1st NT bid! They've been in the PIT three times, losing in the 1st round.
RPIs
15. Westminster
24. Transylvania
34. Manchester
39. Hanover
44. Bluffton
50. Defiance
90. Waynesburg
Remaining questions:
Will Bluffton still get a bid if they lose to Manchester tonight?
Will the selection committee consider Hanover's #1 SOS and award them a bid despite their 14-14 record?
Can Defiance, ranked for much of the season, get an at-large bid?
Will the conference get 6 bids? Will the North division place 4 teams in the NT?
Will Waynesburg get a PIT bid?
Will Transylvania's coach make 'People' magazine's "Sexiest Men" issue?

commish, I think you're forgetting. Manchester's women were ranked #1 for 'best personality' and #3 for 'pretty face'.
