Way to many good choices. I truly hope we get a vote turn out from the GMs like we did last time.

If you're not sure who to vote for, Valtama & Boroda from Anoka!!!!!

Don't forget to mark down Aliens center James Morris - the best 6-season-forward to retire after season 9 .

Aliens have been struggling badly the last 3 seasons, but Morris has always been Mr.Cool and was forced to hang up his skates with 0,53 points per game (=98+180/525).

Hey, I just thought of something here.....can a player who was drafted by another manager and subsequently traded to your team as part of one of the draft pick deals some of us make be named your FP? For example, here's how I acquired my C Lasse Berner

Traded D Lee Takamaa and future considerations (LW Cleon Saarenkivi) to the Roswell Aliens for D Barry Reynolds and a 2nd round draft pick in the Season 6 draft (C Lasse Berner) (Season 5)
As you can see, Berner was drafted by rammers and traded to the Millers before playing a game as an Alien. Is it possible for Berner to be named my FP? I would think it would be OK, but maybe not, and I'm not sure this topic has been discussed before. If I'm wrong, please let me know. Thanks.
6/18/2008 12:14 AM
Players MuST have played their entire career for your franchise to qualify to be your designated FP. (Players who are traded for CANNOT become your FP)
... so unfortunately OKP's rule as written does not address this. I'm a little surprised this is what may be the first time it's been brought up. I have an opinion but I will wait to see if we put it to a vote or not.

Nice one Dan – OKP may need to update the FP-rules to tackle this one...

Technically Berner was an Aliens when I picked him up in the draft and sent him to Millers after game 1, but he has only played for the Millers (= "their entire career").

It was Berners "draft spot" and not the player that was part of a previous trade deal, so I think he should be able to be a Millers FP - he was never part of the Aliens org and never played a game here.

IMO players like Berner and other draft pick players - as part of trade deals and being shipped to another team at start of season w/o playing at all - should be available as FP options for the receiving teams.

(BTW... gotta say I never ever thought Berner would become such a high profile player after picking him up for MILLERS... I'm not sure I even would have used one of my 1-4 pick on such a player... I think he was bellow average on skills in that draft... only his stamina was kinda interesting - perhaps a 4th line contender. This proves you can't write off anyone until they get a few games in at least 2 seasons... WTG Dan!)

Well, since you said it, it's my thought exactly. We are forced to draft-and-trade this way because of the sim format. "In real life" that would have been drg going to the podium with that pick, not rammers.

6/18/2008 9:33 AM
I think, for simplicity sake, easy policing and managing, that it should be OK for Berner to become Yorkton's FP...... reason being is the original rule does say a player must have PLAYED their entire career.... technically, Berner never played a game for Roswell.

I understand the confusing part which says "Players who are traded cannot become FPs.......

With that said, I hope it ok that I say sure, go ahead Drg, if you want, you can select Berner as your FP in the a future offseason.
