Also an absolute coup for GOP politicians over the last twenty-thirty years.

So lets say we take a couple of thousand people, like they take them for a poll. Good spread of Ameirca.

An independent group writes down 25 things that Dems believe, and 25 things that Pubs believe. No names or anything.

We aks people if they had to vote for one list for the rest of their lives which list do they take...

I say pubs. I say if you go issue by issue we win.

Fine. For the sake of your **** reading comprehension, I'll grant that point. Now go back and read my argument.

I understand that Dems cant say liberal anymore.

I understand that Pubs had a part in that.

My point is.

Dems tried to make Cons evil and Pubs tried to make Libs evil.

Why did one work and the other didnt?
5/4/2010 1:39 AM
Well, I mean, that's a great question. To begin with, I think one side was significantly more talented and dedicated to the cause. Plus, I think they also had the general mistrust of authority that's embedded in our national narrative, even if it isn't really reflected in our values. But really, it's a ridiculous complex answer.

5/4/2010 1:42 AM
Regardless, that "working" you refer to...that's the creating of bias.
5/4/2010 1:42 AM
Talented is up for Debate.

Dedicated? I do not think that Dems attacked Pubs less than Pubs attacked Dems.

Why would general mistrust of Authority favor one party?

I realize it isnt as easy as 123.

All I am saying is that it isnt the Pubs fault that people disliked what the Dems became branded with.

I guess I have some of the same issues when I say blacks should be supporting Pubs more.

Maybe it is complex.
5/4/2010 2:06 AM
Exactly. That more middle-class blacks don't support the GOP is absolutely a case of bias...and I think it's very strong on the other side, too (lower-income white vs. Dem).

For a country that dislikes "liberals", we sure have elected alot of them to public office in the last 6 years. Alot of people are angry at the current administration because they are not liberal enough.

Democrats have painted republicans as not caring about the common man and caring only about wall street so well, being republican the last few years has been a death sentence in the polls.
5/4/2010 11:55 AM
So you would say that being painted a conservative has been more toxic than being painted a liberal in the last couple of election cycles? How can this be if America hates the policies of liberals?
5/4/2010 12:15 PM
It's counter-intuitive...there's general, widespread support for the most liberal policies of the last seventy years...it's just the word "liberal" and the idea of big government that rub people the wrong way. It's a serious, fascinating disconnect.
