I will be glad to help out anybody that's new, and I assume others with experience will do the same. If you have any questions, ask. Ask a vet before you make ANY trade. In fact, ask a couple vets. Nothing kills a team more than making bad trades before you know what you're doing. We will be glad to help you out.

Bingo, overall can be misleading.

Another thing to remember is there are many ways to skin a cat. What one person does to build a sucsessful team can be different than what someone else does to make a sucsessful team.

In my Wingnuts thread I am trying to explain what I am doing with a small part of why. Note that not everyone will build a team the same way and not everyone belives the same ratings are important.

I don't have as much experience as some but I will help if i can as well.

One important thing to know is that aging is much more drastic in HBD than in RL. A player usually begins to decline once they pass 30, and usually at 35 their ratings fall off a cliff. Most players are out of the league by 36-37. So dont make the mistake many of us made when HBD rolled out and invest big money in that 33-34 year old stud and assume they will give you 4-5 good years. Aint gonna happen.

very cool, hart, and i will heed that advice. I agree with bastan, looks like we are going to have a group of cool owners to introduce some of us LIVE plyers into HBD.

My first couple of seasons in HBD several veterans were very helpful in clarifying ratings, offering tips on trades, cautioning about dates to be careful not to miss etc. I appreciated it very much and will be happy to try to do the same for owners new to HBD. There are substantial differences between HBD and SLB.

Players are much more difficult to evaluate because you need to be able to make reasonable decisions about the future value of players. Success in HBD is more about building for the future than worrying only about the current season (an exception is when a very good team is aging and your window of opportunity is closing you may want to make a big push for the current or next couple of years).
