Varejao's a difference maker, he's limited to garbage buckets on offense but he's a great low post defender + rebounder and dives on like a million loose balls a game.  His contract is good value and there's no need for the Cavs to trade him for air now when they can wait until he's healthy next year and get some picks out of him.

Yeah, the guy is 2nd in the league in trb%, 1st in oreb%.  32 mpg of that + decent shooting makes him pretty valuable.

But Felon is correct that CLE should trade him for youth if they can get good value.

I think his rebounding is over-rated (like Dwight Howard's)  when viewed as % of his team's totals (especially) - who the heck else is rebounding on that team? he's playing next to Jamison who is averaging 6rpg - after Jamison not a single other player in regular rotation pulls down much more than 3 rpg - someone is going to to pull down boards

Fair enough.  Yeah it's funny to watch Dwight rebound sometimes.  He's like the only guy in the picture even close to the ball half the time.  I'm sure Love gets the same stat bump that way.

It's not % of team totals, it's % of total rebounds available while he's on the court.  sure jamison isn't gonna steal many, but at least varejao doesn't let the other team steal any either.  he's real useful.

Also the Cavs are 3rd in O-Reb% and 6th in D-Reb%- quite the feather in Varejao's cap to do that on his lonesome.

trust me...its really sucks when you dont have that guy who is going to clear easy boards for you every night....id love to have a healthy varejao in philly

like I said he's the kind of guy who can help a contender but he's wasted on this cavs team - Im not recommending that they jettison him for Luke Walton (except in perhaps a tongue in cheek way) but really they should probably shop him (well should have - too late now)

agreed...they could have got back some nice young players and/or draft picks for him...not to mention clearing up cap space

meh, i think it makes sense if they can get a good haul but if they just want to make the playoffs say, next year or the year after as kyrie becomes a stud, it would be helpful to have AV around.  i think last year's team should have traded him but he still has some good years left and w/ a budding superstar there's no rush.
