C+P from ESPN.com: "Tell him the deal is three years at $15 million a year, take it or leave it," the person [in the Yakee front office] taking the hard-line approach [with respect to Jeter] said. "Wait him out and he'll wind up taking it. Where's he gonna go, Cincinnati?"

Don't buy it.

If not the 'Nati, where?

if i obtain a player midway through the season and he's arb eligible next season, does the sim use his total year stats from the season before, or just what he did when he was on my team? i assume it's all together, but the guy has been teh suck on my team even though he was pretty decent before he came to our squad.

Jeter will be a Yankee.  And the Yankees won't hard-line him.   Unless, of course, he starts making ridiculous demands.   Yankee fans love Jeter.   But we're in a recession and even the most diehard Jeter fans aren't going to stand by him if he asks for 10/200m.

There's some disagreement as to whether arb/FA demands are decided by stats or ratings.   I personally believe it's ratings.  Otherwise, you'll have owners Charlie Comiskeying players.

Did you forget this from the 10/6/2009 update?:

  • Arbitration demands will begin reflecting the player’s performance in addition to his ratings. For example, if he was moved to a back up role or out for an extended time with an injury, you won’t see his demands significantly increase.

I didn't forget.  I'm just not buying it.  If a player is out for an extended time due to injury, his ratings probably took a hit.   If an owner benches a player, I don't think so.   Every out of the hunt tanker should immediately bench arb-el players.   Keep those prices down.   I don't really think ADMIN didn't think of that.

Would Johnny Watson as an example change your mind?  Never more than a platoon player for me, arb'ed three times asking for $360k each time.
11/18/2010 2:54 PM
Nope.  There's a bug in the arb program.   Players shouldn't be arbing for 360K.

Says who?

How is it a bug when this is what ADMIN specifically announced as an intended part of an update?
11/18/2010 3:01 PM
Me.

Because players shouldn't be arbing for minimum salaries.   If the guy making 360k while sitting on the bench asked for 425k, I'd buy it.   Players who never saw the bigs demand 4.2m per year but players who sat on a BL bench ask for 360k.   Sorry, that's a bug.

I'm not a GD guy, but my 6th sense tells me that there might have been a recent upgrade, and that it's not being accepted very well by the user community.

Do you agree?
11/18/2010 4:31 PM
There has been an upgrade.   Since I don't play GD, I don't know for sure.  But, if GD guys are like HBD guys, every change equals the end of the world.

Do believe that a forum jinx actually exists?

If so, would be better for my franchises if I just quit HBD altogether since I have apparently angered the gods?
