you hawks fans throw around the word elite like it has no meaning ;)

I totally agree with players like cole or ruutu.  I was more referring to a power forward type with mobility and drive, rather than an 'elite' talent when I said they needed another like hossa.  suppose i shoulda' been more clear.

the oilers games should be exciting.  They are so young with a ton of talent.... reminds me of the hawks before they gave it all away after the cup.  fun to watch, especially RNH.

Glad you like Carcillo in Chicago.  I like the guy but have not missed him at all in Philly.  Rinaldo has been a surprising replacement for him --- especially his fearlessness to target the oppositions best players (just ask Drew Doughty  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9WOqZnbmv8 or Adam Larsson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qea4zHpLnPI&feature=related or to a lesser degree James McBain http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ae-OyAJhP30&feature=related ).

Yeah the oilers are a great young team. My only concern with their future is that they have zero organizational depth on defense, and that might hurt them in the long run. Who knows though, they might find some diamonds in the rough like the hawks did with Keith and Buff. They really remind me of the 08 hawks. Not quite ready to make a long run, but the pieces are starting to come together. Wouldn't be surprised to see an "elite" season from them in the next 2-3 years.

Haha. Agree with the defense. They have the talent to trade for one or two... hemsky is the name that always comes up. Fun to watch them though. Before the season I figured one of the avs, oilers, blues, or wild would be a surprise playoff team...looks like its the oilers.

That was a great game by the canucks and a horrendous one for the hawks. Toews played hard, kruger was very good and leddy was excellent, brunette was a decent net presenceToews, kruger and brunette were the only guys going to the net all night. Other than that everyone sucked big time.

I do however find it amusing how as long as the hawks are winning, this thread is a barren wasteland. And you guys call hawks fans bandwagon jumpers.

moy if Campbell scores 75 points this year, ill give you my first born.

canucks fans, you guys deserved to blow us out. for whatever reason the hawks didn't take this game seriously. that won't happen in Vancouver next week.
Campbell on pace for 82 now ;)

So is MA Bergeron, Ryan Smyth, Milan Michalek and Kris Versteeg (or about 82). If even one of those 5 break the 80 point mark, I'll quit posting here forever.

Interesting day today with 3 upstarts (oilers, panthers, islanders) facing 3 of the more successful franchises in recent years (hawks, flyers, canucks)

I predicted this to happen one year too early. Shame on me.

Hawks keep winning the games they are supposed to win.... They keep that up they easily make the playoffs. Now their challenge is beating the Stanley cup caliber teams like la, van, sj, and det in the west before I admit I was wrong about them not being a legit contender.
11/14/2011 12:27 PM
This trip will go a long way towards that, especially without #7. And as I recall you didn't argue that they weren't a contender...you argued they were a bottom 7 team in the west, which I think clearly isn't the case.

No Luo tonight. Volpatti would fight either one of those guys. I wanna see at least 2 P/P goals tonight. I'll have to find this game on the internet tonight. Should be a gooder. Van/Chic games usually are.

Hawks made it look easy tonight, but then the Canucks are probably not as good as previously thought.
