ASK THE MIKET23 THREAD, PT. 6 Topic

Mike, you seem to be the king of the one liners here.  What are the rules?

Mike, can you explain why all these guys who claim you're an idiot keep coming back to this thread?  If you're an idiot, what does that say about them?

One simple rule in this thread.   You have to ask a question.  It's tough for the less intelligent to remember that one.

I can't really explain it other than to say they're pretty dumb.   I've found it very easy to ignore threads and users.

Why do the Yankees hate Jeter?

Is loyalty really dead in baseball, or did it never have life in the first place?

shouldn't you have said that the one rule of this thread is 'you have to ask miket23 a question'???

I think the Yankees know they hold the hammer.   The economy sucks and no one else is going to offer him 3/45.  They're banking on the fans saying "Jeter is declining 45m while I'm living paycheck to paycheck?   Who does he think he is?"   Of course, the fans that say this don't understand that he's the BEST SS EVAH!!!! and that the suits making the decision to hardball Jeter are doing so in order to buy more yachts.  That said, if Jeter doesn't come back and the Yanks win without him, most will be forgiven.  However, if they lose without Jeter, Hank, Hal and Brian will get the tar and feather treatment.

I was holding onto the dream that I thought loyalty existed.  I had Ripken, Brett and Gwynn in mind.  And to a lesser extent, Biggio.  Guys who were drafted with high expectations and never played anywhere else or guys you couldn't imagine wearing another uniform after spending their entire career in one place.  A little bit of that dream died when Donnie Baseball put on Dodger Blue.  If Jeter ends up elsewhere, the dream will get a toe tag.

I felt that would be understood by the thread title.  Of course, the entire premise of the thread can be explained by the title.

This guy's arb demand this season is $360K (same as last year). However, he's also willing to sign a long term deal for five years at $5.4M per year. Which way should I go?

Which would you rather have a go at; Jennifer Grey pre nose job, or post?

Put yourself in Boston's shoes for a moment (gross idea, I know... but play along).

Would you offer Jeter 4 years and $60M just to up the ante on the feud and get a modicum of revenge for the Damon signing?
Shouldn't t the Yanks just scoff at that -- if Jeter went to Boston, wouldn't that wreck his "brand"?

Are you going to put out a contract on the ESPN.com writer who said, "Probably, he [Jeter] couldn't get even $10 million, when you consider Hanley Ramirez, 10 years younger than Jeter and right now many times better, makes only $11.6 million"?

No, if I was Boston, who got played by Bernie years ago, I'd try to find a catcher.

I'm going to go with the 360k, sight unseen(meaning I didn't look at the player).

Pre-nose job Jennifer Grey is much younger.  Gotta go with younger.   And somebody watched DWTS!!

With all the sabre-rattling from The HHB Boys, I'm beginning to think they aren't too worried with Jeter going elsewhere.

I actually agree with that jerk.   Jeter is worth a lot more to the Yanks than he is any other team.   Looking at last season's contenders, I'm not sure where he'd be considered the "missing link".   A lot of his value comes from being able to perform under the bright lights of NY as if he was playing in a cornfield in Iowa.

I can start three of the four: Hillis, Bradshaw, Gore, Tolbert. Who rides the pine?
