So what happens in the test case that started this firestorm, i.e. the owner who refuses to leave Cooperstown? Will he be removed?

Keep expanded Fair Play Guidelines (what determines a "tanking team").

Remove notice regarding private worlds.

Allow private world commissioners to restrict access between seasons. Rationale for removal must occur prior to the end of the season (heads up to us) and again when the season rolls.

We will continue to review some of these instances subjectively, but this maintains the majority of the power in the commish hands.

For a commish to be removed from commish duty, we will need 10 other owners in the world to state they agree in the world chat during the season.

That's all I wanted. Thanks, tz!

That 'tard world has 27 openings. It will never fill.

That's what happens when you have a 'tard commish.

The owner who didn't hit this target would have to get the password from the commish.2) Selection of acceptable cities. This would allow theme leagues and leagues with ballpark restrictions to continue. Sure, some goober could still choose to be the Los Angeles Gobstoppers, but that might be an outlier.3) Minimum number of players (pitchers and position players) on the roster at each level. If the minimum is not reached by Opening Day, the SIM would sign players automatically and assign them. Owners would not be allowed to make transactions that would violate the league-mandated minimum. Budgets would be adjusted however WIS sees fit.4) Maximum number of pitchers at (0) on a roster. If the maximum is reached, WIS automagically signs a player, as in 3) above. This might not kick in much once 3) is enacted, though.5) Salary cap and/or salary floor for the league. Might also include an option for maximum prospect budget. My guess is that this covers the majority of the "local rules" in use in private HBD leagues today. An e-mail would be sent to each owner when the league has been approved with all of the rules of that league. How does this not work?

I love this idea, and I see that nobody said anything about it. Why not do something like this, where the commish can choose (with the majority of current owners consent) which rules applies to their world. Then it is clear cut and dry. numbers dont lie, and any owners being in said world have to agree or they simply dont join that world.

If you have an owner that hasn't lived up to one or more of those rules then it comes down to a vote among all owners and as long as the majority of the votes say boot, then the offending owner is booted forthwith. No reason to wait for the off-season, do it now, and replace said owner with a proven owner.

No vote. The rules are the rules. Auto boot--if theres something extenuating, they could be given the password and allowed back in.

Would have been fantastic had something like what cbriese suggests was there from the start. Retroactively adding that to worlds could be pain in the assey
4/9/2010 4:49 PM
Yeah, votes take too long and a lot of owners are afraid to get their hands dirty by saying "Boot his ***". Plus it comes down to politics. If you share a couple of worlds with a guy, do you really want to ruffle his feathers?

Queen Elizabeth has extras -- maybe we could get her to loan you "Defender of the Faithful"

ok no voting, it would be pretty simple for WIS to work on an update where the commish has a bunch of those options to choose from right before he clicks the roll-over button. Then it is in the books, and if anybody breaks them rules they are given an auto-warning lets say, then 10 games later we see if that owner has made any substantial changes to not be in violation of those rules. If no changes, he is booooooted! buh bye headache, and it is completely automated, no more people needing to review anything because everything is agreed to before the season even starts.

WIS would still have the option of removing an egregious problem (owner waives all of his players, plays C at SS, etc...) mid-season, but the number of problem users reported to Customer Service should go down dramatically. And if you win 61 when the minimum is 60, well, congratulations, you live to see another season.

Honestly, I don't think this is a big enough issue to do any system modifications. ADMIN laid out the guidelines they find acceptable, most of us agree.

You should look into joining NABCL or CAPB next time we roll (if there are any openings).

Some private world's commissioners had the intuition to make these as "league rules" back when the worlds were originally created.
