FYI - We're starting to get to the point where if you are picking a non-OF, non-P and you know the person or persons on front of you already have that position filled, you can pick out of turn. This won't work as well with OF, SP or RP, since most people don't have those positions filled.
I am assuming that those picks are not final until the person in front picks or the time slot expires. So lets say batandball picks a 3B early because i have already have an "3B"(HoJo is going to play SS). I would still have an opportunity to pick that 3B at my time slot if I wanted to, correct?
No, I believe you are only restricted to pick ONE designated 3B (regardless of where you end up playing that player). I posted way earlier before the draft started if we had to worry about picking players based on where they were designated if we intended to play them elsewhere.
Reading the rules, everyone is restricted to pick only 1 designated C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS plus 3 OFers, 2 Part Time players, 5 SPs and 5 RPs. No other combinations will be allowed.
However, when time comes to set up your playing roster, you are free to play whatever player you want in whatever position they may or may not have field ratings for.
At least that is how I'm interpreting the rules and have been drafting on that assumption (i.e. so if there is only 1 SS left and I'm the only owner who needs a SS, nobody else can pick him so I could theoritically leave him to be my 25th pick.)
