wylie. Isbell is freaking awesome. GREAT songwriter. Check out his other CD's, too. They all be excellent.

A night or two ago, I had a couple and listened to a great CD that blew me away. Little known so I'll pass it along.

The Jackmormons "Into The Lovely"
Jerry Joseph is the lead jackmormon and He does a lot of solo and collaborative work also.
hard to describe, but it's mostly rock of a sort.

Also wylie. Isbell's wife (and fiddle player) Amanda Shires does sole work, too. Quirky, cool songs. String orientated. Not dissimilar from Brandi. Bet you'd like her. She has 4 CD's out. I have the latest two and they are both good.

the current title of this thread is dedicated to the old standard... surrey with the fringe on top..... sung by blossom dearie........she is not well known although crazystengle does unbelievably know her well also......it is a great listen.

she was in the unique category of the famous singers of standards....she had a very innocent waifish voice and looked like a charachter out of square pegs......she started in the 50s and was still singing in a club until she died in the mid 2000s......

i hope that the category of standards becomes big again one day but i doubt that will ever happen......Michael Buble is great...so is Diana Krall........harry connick has had a nice career....not many new artists beyond them who have a name beyond them in the last 40 years.......it is really sad...i love the standards in a different way just as much as i love rock/rock and roll........my 4 top musical heroes in chronlogical order are sinatra.. dylan......beatles...stones.

The piano is simple yet beautiful and regal. Notice the chord at 34 seconds, very ominous, like something's just collapsed in your life, and then Lester's voice rises out of the wreckage with a vulnerable but defiant, "I'm not alone in the night..."
