not really. the thread i had in mind when i made my post about signing named and the mindless ramblings is one that was about a 10 time back and forth between CS and zhawks in which the CS rep repeatedly stated you could double team in the press, on top of trapping. i really hope that wasn't seble, but if it was, i guess anybody can make a mistake :O

but i suppose with the only allowing reps who have a d1 team to answer those tickets comment, i was talking about this response (72 reb is not a weakness). i still think its true, i don't know if seble has a d1 team or not, i would imagine he does though (hopefully). and on the second point, if seble is the guy who responded, its still good to know that - 95% of coaches of quality d1 school would agree 72 rebounding sucks for a pf, so its worth pressing the issue if its seble. he is the guy to change recruit generation, who might review early entries if anybody does, so i think its important to have a very thorough understanding of the kinds of players playing at all levels of the game. but if its not seble who made that comment (i realize it is, but hypothetically speaking), its really not as important, IMO.

of course those factors have an important effect - but the question was not whether he is a good or even excellent player, but whther he is so elite as to go EE

if the mean REB of BCS conference nonwalkons is 81, then the median (which will avoid the undue effect of a few bums with very low ratings) likely is a few points higher. AND, if one then limited the data to PF who play meaningful minutes - say 10 min per game (excluding guys who hardly play) - I bet that would get to a median of at least 85, maybe say 88. Strong teams just dont play many guys with REB at all in this range.

Taking it as given that he was very strong in other cats, was REB weak and should a guy with a weak rating in a core stat go EE was the real question - and I think we had a good discussion of that.

As noted, I used him as backup SF - where he brought a lot to the table and where his REB of 72 would look very good. I wonder whether the EE algorithm looks at players by position or just as players - I had assumed that it looked by position, looking at cores for that position.....but I wonder.

That thread seems to have been deleted.

I've gotta tell you, I see almost no reliable correlation between ath/sp and rebounding for big men. I routinely see bigs on the same team playing about the same minutes, with comparable reb, wildly disaparate ath/sp and pretty much identical rebounding #'s. The reality is that reb rating dictates almost everything. (That's not to say that ath/sp don't help in other areas, only that I've seen zero evidence of them making a difference w. reb.)

And gameplay stats for reb matter way less than even sp/ath do.

Since when do only elite players leave school early

That answer to your question is not direct, but it does answer it.

Just because it happens in real life does not make it good for HD.
