Just time for an observation.
I know some of you just went through that 2010-11 league snake draft as I did.
Looking at the stats from this 92-93 season that players put up - not so much the points and goals, but the shooting percentages, the PIMs especially for D-men - doesn't it look like friggin' science fiction?
Sho was a different game.
My inspiration for this league came from finding my old 1994 NHL Yearbook, which reviewed the entire 92-93 season and previewed 93-94. I was partial to this season to begin with mostly because my Penguins were at their best (despite getting upset in the playoffs). But as I looked through the league leaders, I definitely noticed the science fiction. And the difference in goalie equpment size.
2010-2011 had 29 players score 30 or more goals, 5 of whom reached 40 or more and only Perry scored 50.
In 92-93,
67 players scored 30 or more, 25 of whom reached 40+, 14 scored 50+, 3 had 60+ and Mogilny and Selanne each scored 76.
True, that was the year they played 84 games, so points and PIMS all were relatively slightly inflated, but still.........
Also, so many players that seem like big names/notable players (if not stars) compared to today. Not sure if that's a result of having too many teams now or just my age now vs then or what.
