I'll say one more thing about Zion. I think there's going to be a lot of NBA bigs who are going to do a lot of ole'ing (I guess that is a word) with this kid. Not too many are going to want to try and draw a charge with this guy. You might just end up flat on your back seeing stars and risking your health and career in the process.

grandmama comp is decent. but im a big grandmama fan and im not sure zion will be that good.

grandmama went to my high school. he was in 8th grade when i was freshman in college. went back to watch him play. they called him babyman. he was 13 years old and 6'5". he was pretty skinny as you might guess, but he had unbelieveable court presence and confidence. its hard to describe. he just had "it"

he had a bunch of quadruple doubles and even a quintiple double and was playing against the biggest schools and best teams in dallas.

michael johnson, olympic sprinter (no relation) also went to my high school.

South Dallas is a dangerous place. : ) I'm glad you survived it oldave.

yes it is.
my school is east dallas. but they bus kids out of south dallas into east dallas as part of desegregation. or at least thats how it worked back in the day.

Dallas Fort Worth traffic...the worst. We lived in Irving for three years and hated driving anywhere.

i havent lived in dallas in 35 years, and only been back a couple times, so p6 may be right, i suppose.

but.... the worst??? that seems a bit overstated to me.

i will give you that it is a mess and traffic is bad, but i feel like theres got to be at least 5 or 10 places in the us that are worse... no?

I took a vacation to LA a few years ago. It took us five hours to drive from Simi Valley north of the city to Pomona. That's less than seventy miles.

Chicago traffic can also be horrible depending on the time of day.

Ok, maybe not the worst, but up there. I think I remember endless construction delays influencing my statement somewhat. Now, you want bad drivers...Columbus Ohio is the place for you.
Kyrie drops 50 the other night...making up for that KD-deficiency. I may watch some NBA this season. My Basketball Jones is showing...

I think Zion is the real deal. I always hear that the jumpshot is the easiest thing to improve. Zion has ball skills. Charisma. Athleticism. And a non stop motor. If he can stay clear of injuries (a tall tall task), I believe he can carry that torch. I feel like people are treating him as if he's capped out. He's going to improve in areas. Just like all rookies do (maybe not all. But generally speaking, players come into the league and get better as their career continues).

I think he's in a good place with lonzo ball on board. He's a pass first guy (whether he's good or not is still unknown). And I don't think new Orleans has the "must win now" mentality.

Just my two cents. I'm on the Zion wagon

I think Lonzo, if he can stay away from his family, could blossom in New Orleans. A pass-first 6'6 guard, he has a lot of skills but has to put his time in LA behind him. I don't think the Lakers were the right team for him, regardless of what his Dad kept spouting. Anyway, I think if Zion stays healthy he'll be fun to watch. The Pelicans could be fun to watch.

Speaking of Lonzo, has any one else noticed Big Baller Brand apparel on sale for about a 90% discount?
$50 t-shirts for $5. $70 hoodies for $6.
Old Lavar didn't quite bring Nike to their knees.

ohio drivers on the whole are so bad that i lack the vocabulary to capture how bad they truly are. its like the concept of the left lane being a passing lane, that whole keep right thing... its not that it doesn't even exist, but its the opposite. its like well people merge from the right so even if there are four lanes, im going to park in the left lane just to not have to deal with merging. which i sort of get, because ohioans idea of merging is slowing down to 20 or even stopping and waiting for an opening while the people being merged into speed up for some unknown reason. then there is the whole concept that a car parked in the shoulder demands the entire highway slow down to 15 mph. all while dealing with moderate congestion or less - god help us if that changes!

also a surprising number are fans of brake checking in the left line while going the speed limit or less. i think it should be legal to murder those people, and possibly their entire families, for the good of future civilization.

i'll give you columbus - at least the rest of the big cities have some % of out of state drivers, who are invariably either slightly more competent or at least a little more considerate (KY). houston is pretty damn awful too, i can basically give a pass on the drivers being complete idiots, or total ********, but not both - houston is definitely both.

This isn't just Ohio. Go take a drive down the NY thruway sometime.

I will say that the quality of roads in Ohio is complete trash.
