This draft would be a complete clusterfck without him.

looks like the owners of the early years teams have a big advantage with a much deeper pool of veteran players and less competition for them being drafted by someone else

It is also the same at the other end.
Any rookies from 2013 thru 2019 can only be drafted by 4 teams

I got tied up at work this afternoon and spaced on this.

It's probably too early to be drafting a spork, but I'm drafting 1989 Tony Phillips anyway.

Hold that thought. It's in the very very early stages and I'm seeking help ironing out the specifics and maybe it's just an idea I'd happily hand off to someone to run with, but how about a prog where the seasons aren't consecutive, but staggered approx 4 years apart so that each season every team is playing from every historical era simultaneously with everyone else.
funny you mention 4 years at a time :))
Joe (razorclams) created / is running a 4-year that Progresses 4 years at a time that started in (1885 - 1888) - the "Grand Slam Progressive" You choose the specific season of the 4 your player plays in, It's a 16-teamer -- we are drafting season 4 now (1897 - 1900), If we need openings I'll mention it to you & those of us here.
Also Dave (dasphinger) ran a 7-Year itch that started maybe 1901? that is wrapping up our final season (2015 - 2021) so they are out there & Way more fun & interesting than the single season slog or even dual season drafts -- Cheers!

And hypothetically your idea to cover the Entire 1885 - 2021 spectrum at once can be done -- ** (BUT) ** the 1800's with 600 - 800 IP behemoths dominating & the equally dominating deadball Pete Alexanders, Addie Josses, Mordecai Browns, Christy Mathewsons, (not to mention some of the 1880's &1890's hitting) -- this is as about a good balance as I can spitball with these years Lee set out. (IF) we find a certain era is either consistently Not able to compete or is too dominant after 2-3 years -- Lee can always tweak/handicap the player pools some if needed. But let's see how this plays out & see IF there is any advantage or disadvantage. More excited about this league & the revolving player pools & potential blockbuster trades. This is Going to be many of out favorite or top 3 favorite Leagues -- I can almost guarantee it :))

I missed my draft spot and missed my targeted player because of it. Fortunately, I have a decent backup.
