This is a very entertaining thread (I mean that!). Can you give me more of an idea what league this is referencing? I'm not quite understanding what you are doing here.

Thanks.

This is the Centennial League, which is (I believe) the "original" progressive theme league started by seaphil, currently run (and I use the term loosely) by ceez. I joined during the 1976 season (the league started with the 1969 season).

ceez and metallicafan also have threads for their teams (ceez - San Francisco, metallicafan - NY Cosmos).

Game 39: Alex Fernandez has a rough outing, but the Spectres tie the score after he leaves with single runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Bob Wickman comes in to pitch the bottom of the eighth. Bad move. Minnesota rips off six runs in that frame and goes on to win 10-5.

Montreal heads home to face Cincinnati.
5/22/2008 7:59 PM

Game 45: Six more hits from the first three batters (including home runs from Brady Anderson and Eddie Murray), but the rest of the team manages only one. Willie Blair gets shelled again and the Lone Stars avoid a sweep with a 9-3 victory. Blair is now 1-5 with an 8.77 ERA.

Game 46: Montreal trails St. Louis 5-2 after eight and a half innings, and the first two Spectre batters in the ninth ground out to third base. Things look bleak. Murray homers, his tenth of the season, and Montreal wins 6-5.

Game 47: St. Louis gets plenty of revenge in the second game, scoring eight times off starter Dave Burba and eight more times against the ragged Montreal bullpen. Tom Glavine doesn't need all the support, but he accepts a gift-wrapped 16-3 win.
