I haven't heard either. I will try to look them up when I get to Portland tonight.

Didn't like Let's Wrestle as much on second listen...all though it has its moments. Has a really Art Brut sound at times...so if you like that.

Fang Island, however...I absolutely love. But, fair warning--there's a chance that there's a Veronica Mars effect here. It's heavily indebted to 70's guitar rock...Slade, Toto, Queen, Boston, ELP, etc. A lot of fun, and really inventive, but nothing remotely edgy.

That sucks.

Listened to two new albums today...Fang Island and Let's Wrestle...liked them both a lot, I think. Definitely deserve multiple listens.

Just stumbled upon Fang Island. I'm a sucker for that anthemic happy-happy stuff.

I also just discovered that they were in town four days ago. Bollocks.

I'll listen to Fang Island.

I thought the new MGMT was decent, but I'll be honest that I only gave it a cursory listen so far.

I was actually happy to hear the Get Up Kids came out with a new EP. It's been a while since I listened to them, but I thought it was pretty solid. I think I'll always support them. Four Minute Mile was my jams ten years ago or so.

And the Tallest Man on Earth is pretty interesting. Some weird Langhorne Slim trying to sound like Bob Dylan vibe, but I liked it a lot.

I always liked Matsson. Haven't heard that new one yet though.

rlahann: Gave RAA another few listens. That album is f'ing sick. I wrote down the name of some lo-fi, garage stuff you recommended to me via message last week but I wrote it in my phone and lost it in Seattle. What was their name again?

Haven't gone back to MGMT after, I think, the third listen...couple songs stand out and I added them to a playlist, but the album didn't hold together for me.

Tallest Man on Earth is nice...I've only heard his latest once, but I couldn't really hear any difference from his first album. I don't love him, but it's a chill listen, and a nice twist on the Americana overload.

Yeah, man--that album is awesome. One of the few great ones from last year. I think it's got some problems to it from time to time, but it really has its moments. Four Night Rider, Dethbridge at Lethbridge...and the drummer just dominates the whole thing. Feels like a band that could put out an awesome sophomore album if they had some extra studio time.

For sure. I also really like Drain the Blood and Sleep All Day.
