Either Cy Young and Kid Nichols or Walter Johnson and Pete Alexander

Johnson and Alexander were in opposite leagues - never faced each other

Nichols and Young are an excellent guess, but they are in almost the same boat as Johnson/Alexander; Nichols won his 300th in 1900, so he and Young were in the same league as 300 winners for only 1 season. After that NIchols was NL, Young AL. And it doesn't appear that they faced each other as starters in 1900.

OK...I stand corrected...Nichols and Young faced off on July 11th 1900...but Young had not won his 300th game at that point, and wouldn't until 1901...so he and Nichols were in fact never in the same league at the same time as 300 game winners.

Greg Maddux vs Roger Clemens, April 28, 2005
Don Sutton vs. Steve Carlton, August 4, 1987.
Don Sutton vs. Phil Niekro, June 8, 1987.
Don Sutton vs. Tom Seaver, July 27, 1986.
Tim Keefe vs. Jim “Pud” Galvin, July 21, 1892.

Keefe and Galvin faced each other four times as 300-game winners, oddly enough all in July (the game listed above, and on the Fourth in 1892, the 9th in 1891, and on July 17, 1890).

EDIT: I thought Clarkson and Keefe, looks like the Doc is right though with Galvin. Didn't think he made it far enough past 300 to face anyone else 4 times

The doctor is quite right. Galvin and Keefe.

What player hit the longest verified home run in the history of Yankee Stadrum, 580 feet from home plate, and also hit the only ball ever hit completely out of Yankee Stadium?
