Did Goodell send a message to Favre that he was sitting out by commissioner's ruling, or is Favre truly hurt?

He's hurt.   Whether he could have played or not is the real question.   My guess is the Vikes are done, Favre's tired of the Jenncloud over his head and he'd just like to put on some Wranglers down on the farm.  What's weird to me is the talking heads are acting like 297 is an unreachable number.   Peyton Manning is 34 and has started every game of his career.  He's at 205 and could reach it by simply continuing to play.  I don't recall him ever being questionable for a game.  And, unlike Favre, he gets rid of the ball and avoids the hits. 

Strong rumblings of Lee going to Phillies. Are you surprised? If the Phils exercise mutual option on Oswalt, their rotation will be stacked with Halladay, Lee, Oswalt, and Hamels will it not? Werth looks like a dumbass now, doesn't he?

Seems to be a done deal.   With both the Yanks claiming to have made their "final" offers last week, I thought their might be another team involved.   Nonetheless, I am a little surprised if it's actually at 5/120m deal.

He will not.

First, they'll bring Pettite back.   CC, Hughes, Pettite, Burnett, Nova isn't the worst rotation in baseball.   Then they'll see if they can get an arm for Montero.  As I understand it, he's not capable of catching.   With Tex at 1B until he dies and the multitude of DH candidates on the roster, he's expendable.
