The craziest part........................ Torres who the Hawks LOATHE takes out a star like Hossa with a head shot and not one Hawk retaliates.
That **** would never happen on the flyers.
This is very true. The Hawks are never going to win the cup again if they don't start protecting their own. Didn't they leave their Captain to fend for himself earlier this season too? The reason the Bruins won last year wasn't because they were the new rendition of the "Broad Street Bullies", It's because they always protect their own, no matter what the circumstances are. As moy has already stated, it's also the reason why the Flyers are kicking the crap out of the Penguins and are probably the Cup favourites (at least in my eyes) at this point in the playoffs. This "style" did not start with the Bruins in last year's playoffs. It has been evolving into what it is for many years throughout hockey at all levels. What has made it worse is that the thugs haven't been allowed to perform their role of policing the game and now this type of "style" has been integrated into the game as an accepted tactic. 23 years ago Chris Chelios almost ended Brian Propp's career with a vicious elbow to the head and never even received a penalty for it. The difference then was that Montreal (and specifically Chelios) spent the rest of that series looking over their shoulders for Dave Brown and as such played a pretty clean game for the rest of the playoffs, which probably in the end cost them the Stanley Cup against Calgary.
