That's got to be an overstatement. If you drafted the rookie class of 1981 you'd just about have all-stars at every position by the middle of the decade. You could win 100+ games every year from 1984-1986.

I do not think so...here is my take on the line-up of the all-next year team - Feel free to swap in better players if you think I missed someone.
Great OF - Raines, George Bell, Barfield (there are many OF'ers next year), OK infield - 3B - Wallach, SS - Luis Aguayo (uggh - there really is no SS next year - Ripken is the next year), 2B - Sax, 1B - Hrbek, C - Tony Pena. The starting pitching is woeful - here is my stab at the top 4 - Fernando, Mike Witt, Dave Stewart, Pascual Perez...with many random relievers - probably Lee Smith to close.

That is a good team, but I see better teams being made right now.

mmiller should have been removed from this league after selecting Rick Langford and Miguel Dilone with his 1st and 2nd round picks. Now he's giving away his 13th for a completely worthless 3rd round pick. I can't see this league surviving. Such a shame.

I know I'm not going anywhere! Psyched to get to use all these great 80s players I grew up watching.

the theme filled relatively quickly, it's a good era to play in and if there are teams orphaned at season's end it won't be difficult to get replacement owners. Guys looking to come into an already established progressive know from the outset they will have to rebuild as most orphaned teams are reclamation projects anyway. There is an appeal there. I'd worry less about what someone else is doing, trading etc. There is a learning curve in a progressive for one and that is accelerated by trial and error and progressives take on characteristics of a live team insofar as having a past, present and future. Who's to say what is in someone's mind when looking to build for the future. everybody has their own ambition and strategies. Allow for that. What takes down progressives more than orphaned owners is a negativity, infighting and bullying that makes it less fun....so guys leave. I'm a glass is half full guy. enjoy the draft, play the season, have fun....report to spring training next year and get ready for another....

my comments aren't directed at any one individual more to the group as a whole. pardon my "interference", not trying to provoke or cause trouble, just been watching this draft take place cause I have a draft coming up for an 85 team and doing advanced scouting. the quibbling caught my attention is all.

To be perfectly honest guys I could draft a whole bunch of players that have semi-decent seasons for the next 3 - 5 years and finish in the middle; collect my bad draft picks etc. I will try to be competetive with my pitching. Make it to the draft and potentially land 4 guys with great careers into the 90's
