I'm undecided. I was a pretty strong advocate of "Well, just play defense, dumbasses" until I saw some recent stats. They involved average starting point(30 yard line more or less since kickoff was moved back to provide more return ops), kicker accuracy(over 80% vs. 60% when the previous OT rule was instituted) and the number of times the coin toss winner won the game(almost 60% vs. damn near 50/50 for home team and/or better record). I still think a team has 60 minutes to win a game and that defense is part of the game but those numbers make it feel like an offense is one first down and a fluke 30 yard play from winning the game in OT. It would suck to lose a game on a kickoff return to the 30, an 11 yard scamper where the guy broke one tackle and a 30 yard pass interference call. 46 yard field goals are quite makeable.
As I understand it, it's for the post-season only.
