Chapman's Darryl Ford led all scorers with 14 points and Edward Thorn chipped in 12 points in the losing effort.
Mennonite took control of the game with 13:54 taking an 11-9 lead that they would not let go. The Royals increased that lead to 6 multiple times in the first half, but watched it cut to two at the end of the 1st session. The second half saw the Panthers trim the lead to one in the early going, but Mennonite answered every charge Chapman made extending their advantage to seven at one point on a bucket by Patterson with 4 minutes remaining. Gerald Grant closed the gap to two with 41 seconds on back to back buckets after missing the front end of a one-and-one. Stevenson hit 1 of 2 free throws and Mennonite held on for the win and moves on to face #1 seed Principia.
Washington & Jefferson 84
Eureka 82 OT
Presidents upset Red Devils on buzzer beater in OT
Washington & Jefferson pulled a major upset knocking off #4 seeded Eureka in OT on Ernest Blythe's buzzer beating kiss off the glass. The Presidents were lead by Charles Cook's 18 points and 7 assists and Robert Franklin's 13 points. The team shot 59% from the field. The Red Devils were led by Charles Lingerfelt's game high 24 points and Kenneth Fessler's 15. Eureka dominated the boards at 41-23, but could not come up with the victory.
Eureka jumped out to a 7-2 lead, but W&J got back into the game and took their first lead at 24-21 on a Wayne Choate three-pointer, then managed to hold onto a one point edge at the half. The Presidents opened the second half well extending the lead to 6 quickly, but the Red Devils responded with an 8-0 run to retake the lead. The Presidents eventually retook control and even went up seven on three Cook free throws. Fessler looked to be the hero knocking down 5 straight points to tie the game at 59. Both offenses suddenly heated up until the last minute when both had an opportunity to hit the game-winner, but both failed sending the game to overtime. In the extra stanza, W&J drew first blood, but Joseph Baldwin nailed a three for Eureka. The teams traded free throws until Fessler scored to go up 82-80 with 1:36 remaining. Choate answered that bucket with one of his own to tie it with under a minute to go. Fessler then became the goat turning the ball over with just six seconds to go and Blythe became the hero hitting as the horn sounded.
Guilford 86
Bluffton 78
Quakers dam Beavers' path to 2nd round
Guilford took control of a very tight game with an 8-0 midway through the second half and then held off a very tough opponent in Bluffton. Curtis Gamble finally began playing like the preseason All-ODAC player he was expected to be pouring in 26 points on 10-14 shooting and Chuck Bitner added 19 points on 6-9 shooting. Joseph Jones led the Beavers with 21 points and Jason ("Mc")Lovin added 15 in the losing effort.
The first half was very close throughout as neither team was able to pull away, Guilford holding a 5 point edge at one time and Bluffton a 4 point edge. The Quakers took a one point lead into the break with a Thomas Henry three-pointer with one second at 39-38. The second half started much like the first. Guilford was up 4 when Bluffton scored 5 straight points to take a one point lead when the Quakers finally went on an 8-0 run to gain control of the game once and for all. The Beavers would make one last push as Nigel Powell hit a three to cut it to 4 with 17 seconds . Guilford managed to make their free throws down the stretch and hold on for the win.
Lynchburg 64
Misericordia 50
Hornets make free throws down the stretch for win
Lynchburg made 34-46 free throws and pulled away from Misericordia late to advance to the second round. Lynchburg's Bryan Kelly led the charge with 16 points on 4-6 from beyond the arc and senior John Gregoire added 12 points. The Hornets struggled to 35% shooting from the field, but used solid fundamental foul shooting to overcome their poor offensive output. The Cougars were led by John Gray with 12 points and also struggled from the field to the tune of 29.8%.
Richard Hirschman got Misericordia out of the gate well scoring his team's first 5 points for an early lead, but the Cougars couldn't contain the Hornets who quickly got back in the game and then took control with a 7-0 run beginning at the 8:40 mark an went into the break with a 28-23 advantage. Kelly heated up in the second half helping the Hornets to an eleven point edge, but Misericordia went on an 8-0 run to close the gap as Lynchburg suddenly began struggling from the line. The Hornets righted the ship responding with a 10-3 run to regain control and finally resumed hitting their FTs to seal the victory.
Postseason Invitation 1st Round
Washington & Lee 54
Utica 49
Generals struggle but pull out victory
Washington & Lee shot only 32% from the field but used its defense and rebounding advantage to pull out a 54-49 victory. Jeremy Jeffrey scored a game high 15 points and added 11 rebounds and was aided by frontcourt mate Robert Mark's 10 points, but it was a 13-3 offensive rebound edge and forcing 19 turnovers that really lead the Generals to the win. The Pioneers were lead by Gary Tuttle and Alec Dawson who each scored 11 points.
W&L found themselves down 8 early in the game, but used a 9-2 run over five minutes to get back in it. Jeffrey completed the first half comeback with four straight points in 39 seconds to take a 3 point lead, but Tuttle responded with 2 late threes to give the Pioneers a one point lead at the half. The second half was a close battle as Utica seemed to hold control gaining a four point lead and generally staying up or tied until Jeffrey broke a tie with 2:24 to go with two free throws and Zachary Toothman buried a three to give W&L the lead. Utica responded with four straight points to cut it to one with 44 seconds , but Jeffrey and Mark hit both of their free throw attempts down the stretch to seal the victory.

MacMurray came out firing in the second half increasing its lead to 13 with 17:10 to go. The Presidents made a push to try to get back into the game and got the deficit cut in half to 7, but Joseph Lilly hit a three to put an end to the comeback and W&J never posed a serious threat the rest of the way. The Highlanders built the lead to 16 at one point before settling in for the 78-64 win and bid to the sweet 16.

The first half saw Lynchburg battle early to a 10-9 lead only to see Wheaton pull away with a 9-0 run that was finally broken by a Paul Dever free throw. The teams traded baskets until the Hornets looked like they would get back in the game after a Godinez jumper cut it to 2 with one second remaining in the half, but Narcisse hit the prayer from beyond halfcourt to give the Thunder a 5 point edge at the half. The second half began slowly for both teamsand the Hornets found themselves down by 7 with 13:44 to go when they went on an 8-0 run to get back in the game. The Hornets converted their free throws down the stretch to pull away for the 11 point victory.
Principia 71
Eastern Mennonite 68
Royals give #1 seed a scare before falling
The Royals defense finally revealed a ***** in their armor as the Panthers of Principia shot 51% from the field. Principia then had to fight off Mennonite down the stretch to narrowly escape with a win. Glen Constance led all scorers with 16 points and Robert Shoup added 11 points for the Royals while Anthony Shank led a quartet of Panthers in double figures with 12 points.
Constance got the Royals out the gate well with 6 of their first 9 points and Mennonite held the lead early in the game by 8 after a Shoup jumper. Steve Elliott nailed a three over the double team just before the half for the Royals to take an 8 point lead into the lockerroom. Robert Stevenson scored quickly in the second half for a 10 point edge, but Principia whittled the deficit down to a tie at 45 with 14:12 remaining. From there the game got really tight. Neither team could find the basket with the Panther holding a one point lead for 3 minutes until Principia finally took control maintaining a small lead the rest of the way. Mennonite was able to answer everything the Panthers had, but couldn't quite get the bucket to get the lead back and fell 71-68.
Guilford 81
Rockford 73
Quakers repeat #8 over #1 against MIAA conference foe
Guilford dominated Rockford for most of the game and then held off a furious rally over the last 7 minutes of the game to hang on for the upset win. The Quakers were led by Curtis Gamble with 18 points, Matthew Smith had 16 points, and Chuck Bitner added 14 points. The Regents were led by Williams Corona who had a game high 20 points on 6-6 from beyond the arc and was helped by Robert Darnell who chipped in 15 points.

After Rockford cut the lead to 5, Guilford used a 9-0 run to go up 14 that they would eventually extend to 15 before the Regents caught fire to end the half on an 8-0 run to trim the lead to 7. Guilford dominated the first 12 minutes of the second half increasing their lead to 20 points. Rockford finally woke up and made a valiant effort to get back in the game trimming the lead to 5 with just 23 seconds to go, but the Regents ran out of time and Guilford held on for a victory over a #1 seed for the second consecutive year.
Postseason Invitational 2nd Round
Baldwin-Wallace 67
Washington & Lee 57
Yellow Jackets pull away late with free throws
Baldwin-Wallace overcame a quiet start to the second half to dominate Washington & Lee down the stretch for a 10 point victory. The Yellow Jackets only had 9 turnovers, held a 31-20 rebounding advantage, and outscored the Generals from the foul line 23-14 on a 24-13 foul discrepancy. Allen Schwind scored 11 points to lead a balanced Yellow Jacket attack. Joseph Lee tried to single-handedly keep the Generals in the game scoring a game high 18 points on 6-12 three-point shooting and Jeremy Jeffrey added 10 points in the losing effort.
The 1st half saw B-W take command early with a 7-0 run. W&L fought back to take a one point lead at 16-15 with 8:26 to go, but B-W immediately retook the lead and finished the half strong on a 4-0 run to lead 30-24 at the break. The Generals came out on fire in the 2nd half scoring on its first four possessions to take a three point lead. Then W&L went on a six and a half minute drought while B-W went on an 11-0 run to take a commanding lead. W&L wasn't done though as they finally found the range and cut the deficit back to two at 42-40, but could not keep up as the Yellow Jackets began sinking FT after FT to pull away once and for all.

Lynchburg 105
Heidelberg 69
Hornets thoroughly dominate in surprising upset of #2 seed
James Atkinson made a three-point play off the opening tip and Lynchburg never looked back rolling to a surprisingly easy win over Heidelberg. The Hornets shot 56.9% from the field compared to the Student Princes' 38.2%. Martin Myricks scored a game high 25 points off the bench, Christopher Godinez added 23 points and 10 rebounds, and John Gregoire chipped in 15 points. Myricks scored much of his points in the second half as he saw more playing time than expected and made the most of his opportunity garnering player of the game honors. Heidelberg was led by Earl Grayson's 14 points and Harry Hoeft with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The game was close early as the Berg answered every Lynchburg basket for the first 13 minutes, but the blitz was on after that. Myricks sparked the Hornets with two free throws to start a 19-8 run over the last six and a half minutes of the 1st half to take a commanding 53-37 lead. The second half started a little slowly for the first couple of minutes, but Lynchburg picked right back up where it off and steadily pulled away for a convincing 105-69 victory.
Guilford 77
Texas Lutheran 72
Quakers protect ball and lead to upset Bulldogs
Guilford went an unprecedented 40 minutes without a turnover and held off a furious Bulldog rally to upend the #5 seed. The Quakers watched their lead evaporate late in the second half, but righted the ship over the last 2 minutes to escape with a five point victory. Curtis Gamble continued his strong play leading the Quakers with 14 points on just 3-11 shooting, Matthew Smith added 13 points, and Herbert O'Bannion contributed 11 points off the bench. The Bulldogs were led by James Williams who scored a game high 16 points and 14 rebounds and Joseph Sink's 15 points.
Guilford opened with a quick 5 points off the tip only to watch Texas Lutheran battle back to take an 11-9 lead. From there, the Quakers surged ahead using on 11-0 run capped by Gamble's six straight points. Guilford seemed to be in command and increased the lead to 10 points at the half on an O'Bannion three to go to the lockerroom up 38-28. The 2nd half started well for the Quakers as they extended their lead to 14, but midway through the half Lutheran stormed back. The Bulldogs were a perfect 10 of 10 from the line to cut a 13 point deficit to 3 with 8:48 remaining. O'Bannion kept Guilford in front with 4 points during the run, but Lutheran kept the pressure on cutting the deficit to 2 at 7:20 and later used a 7-0 run to tie it on Joshua Douglas' one of two free throws with 2:49 . From there Mark Graig saved the Quakers scoring all 6 of his points down the stretch to re-establish the lead and Guilford held on for a 77-72 win.

Lynchburg 63
Westminster (PA) 45
Hornets stun #1 Titans to advance to first ever Final Four
Lynchburg got off to a good start and slowed the pace down to effectively shorten the game to overcome the more talented Westminster Titans. The Hornets once again relied on a strong defensive effort in holding the Titans to just 31.8% shooting from the field. Lynchburg's Christopher Godinez led all scorers with 16 points, James Atkinson added 14 points, and player of the game John Gregoire added 12 points, 6 assists, and 3 steals. No Titan player broke double figures as Peter Caves and Hugh Walters each scored 9 points.
Caves opened the scoring with a jumper, but Lynchburg went on an 11-1 run to take the lead that it would never give up. Westminster stayed close for much of the 1st half until the Hornets went on a 13-0 run over the last six minutes to secure a 36-17 halftime lead. The 2nd half saw the Titans trim the lead to 11 points, but Atkinson buried consecutive threes to increase the cushion and the Hornets cruised from there making all 12 of their free throws for the game to pull the upset over the top seed in the region and one of the favorites to win it all.
Guilford 80
Skidmore 64
Quakers put Thoroughbreds to stud
Curtis Gamble and Chuck Bitner continued their strong play and the Quakers used another strong offensive effort to handily defeat Skidmore and advance to the final four. Gamble led all scorers with 16 points and Bitner added 14 points and 10 rebounds as the Quakers outrebounded the Thoroughbreds 38-22 and out shot them 62.5% to 40.7% from the field. The 2nd half saw the Thoroughbreds trim the lead to 7 early, but they would get no closer as the Quakers answered every run. Principia 75
Quakers continue torrid shooting in upending #1 Principia
Guilford shot 59% against 46% for Principia as the Quakers knocked off the second #1 seed they've faced in the Panthers. Thomas Henry scored a game high 18 points and Curtis Gamble and Chuck Bitner continued their strong play with 17 and 15 points respectively to lead the Quakers to the win and a spot in the championship game. The Panthers were led by Larry Woolbright and Frank Hayes who each scored 15 points. The Quakers made the most of the foul differential (22-14) by hitting 20 free throws versus the 8 made by the Panthers.
Guilford got off to an excellent start by opening the game on a 7-0 run, but three consecutive three-pointers by Principia answered the run and the teams settled in. The first half was marked by 9 lead changes as both teams found their offense. Bitner converted a three-point play in the last minute to give the Quakers a 44-40 lead that they would take into the 2nd half. The second session saw the Quakers start strong again as they nailed 3 threes early in the half to take an 11 point lead. Guilford kept the advantage between 8 to 14 points for most of the half until a Henry three upped it to 15 with just 1:02 to play as the Quakers cruised to the 87-75 victory and their second championship game appearance in coach colville's tenure.
Lakeland 80
Lynchburg 72
Weak press finally haunts Hornets
Lynchburg had been riding a shaky press through the first 4 games, but it finally burned the Hornets as they were called for 35 fouls and Lakeland took advantage converting 39-50 free throws in defeating the upstart Hornets 80-72 denying the ODAC an all-conference finale. Lakeland got strong efforts from Douglas Caulder (18 points, 11-12 FTs), Steven Graves off the bench (15 points, 7-7 FTs), and Richard Stonebraker (14 points, 10-13 FTs). They also used a strong defense that was more versed in the press to hold Lynchburg to 31.5% from the field. The Hornets were led by Christopher Godinez (18 points) and James Atkinson (15 points), but were hampered by having all 4 of their guards foul out in addition to starting PF Paul Dever.
The first half was very close early until Lakeland went on a 7-0 run midway through the period to take a 19-11 lead that they would later increase to 9 before Lynchburg stormed back with an 8-0 run of its own. After a Muskie basket, Dever nailed a three to tie the game and an Atkinson tip in brought the lead back to the Hornets. Lakeland retook the lead then buried a midcourt shot at the buzzer to take the wind out of the Lynchburg sails and go to the lockerroom with a 39-35 lead. Dever opened the 2nd half with a bucket as Lynchburg had appeared to recover, but then the defense began finding itselt out of position. Lakeland was in the bonus by just after the four minute mark and the three major contributing guards of the Hornets all had 3 fouls. Lynchburg stayed close cutting the deficit to 44-41 at 12:33, but Lakeland began to wear the Hornets down opening an 11 points lead at 7:29. The Hornets clawed back trimming the lead to 3 again at the 4:35 mark, but could get no closer. They twice more made the game close at a 3 point deficit, but free throws down the stretch sealed their fate.
It was a good run for the Hornets though as they defeated Iba icons ifster, branmarr24, and spasticity before succumbing to another legend in coach knight. Lakeland will be aiming for its second title under coach knight who will be making his third championship game appearance in the last 6 years.

Quakers claim first title with impressive run!
Guilford used the same formula that proved so effective from the first round on by outshooting and outdefending their opponents in defeating powerhouse Lakeland 74-64 to claim their ever first title and the second in 5 years for the ODAC (Washington & Lee). Guilford shot 56.4% to Lakeland's 44.6% from the field including 11-15 from beyond the arc and overcame some poor foul shooting (57.6%) and being outrebounded 36-23 in the win. Thomas Henry scored a game high 19 points on 5-6 from three-point range despite being doubled teamed much of the game and got help from Herbert O'Bannion's 14 points, and Chuck Bitner's 10 points. Tournament MVP Curtis Gamble also contributed 10 points for the Quakers. Lakeland got solid efforts from Richard Stonebraker and Brian Tusing who had 15 points apiece.
After Lakeland opened with a bucket to start the game, Guilford went on a 9-0 run capped by a Gamble three-pointer. The Muskies answered with a 7-0 run of their own to tie it as the teams finally settled in. Guilford struggled a bit during the first half as a double team slowed Henry and the Quakers couldn't find the range on their free throws shooting 7-15 for the half. Lakeland took a 30-27 lead into the half.
The second half began as the first. After Muskie stud Brian Tusing nailed a three, Guilford responded with 4 threes, 3 by Henry, to go up four at the 17:06 mark. A Tusing fadeaway cut the lead to one with 14:03 to go before the Quakers went on a tear outscoring the Muskies 13-2 by the 8:26 mark. From there, Guilford controlled the game holding an 8 to 14 point lead until Lakeland began forcing the action. Stonebraker hit to cut the lead to 7 with just 1:34 , but Bitner responded with two free throws and Henry answered a Patrick Carter bucket with two free throws of his own to keep the lead at nine with under a minute to play. Bitner put the icing on the cake with 1-2 free throws and the celebration began.
Guilford made an impressive run from the #8 seed through a great group of coaches-all Iba legends. In round 1, the Quakers knocked off aporter out of the Heartland. In round 2, they beat barjaz's #1 seed out of the MIAA. In the sweet 16, they beat gopokes24 out of the ASC. In the elite 8, they upended kyle_lee7's #2 seed out of the Upstate. In the final 4, they knocked off cr1spy's #1 overall team out of the SLIAC. Finally, they took out WIAC coach knight's #2 overall team in the championship game.

You do a heck of a job with this thread barret. I am still in awe of Guilford's run to the national championship. I don't think I've ever seen a team play so well and defeat so many good teams and coaches. The one game they didn't even commit a turnover. Unbelievable. It was a heck of a run.

Colville benefitted from a thrashing put on his team by Lynchburg in the conference tournament that forced him to adjust his settings. Suddenly his SF became the stud he was expected to be all season. He beat a number of outstanding coaches which makes his run that much sweeter.
On a side note, I think Lynchburg is finally worthy of playing in an all-brothers tournament to include Skidmore, Washington (MO), and Eastern Mennonite.
