smokey, I don't think you give the members of your league enough credit. My NFL draft league is totally based on your format, except I am doing half hour increments, not an hour. We started on Tuesday on the clock and are in round five Friday...all along, I can count the total skipped picks on two hands so far. I can't believe my football owners are THAT much better than the owners here. If an owner misses a pick and doesn't sitemail, they know they have no one to blame but themselves and no one has complained. If they do miss their time, screw em...they get skipped and the draft moves on. Sometimes a skipped owner misses out on 10-15 players...and even those owners have not complained. Everyone knows the deal, they abide by it and four or five guys post proxy picks for others. When both drafts are going on simultaneously, the NFL draft is going bam, bam, bam...and this one is going zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Nothing against you at all smokey. I love your leagues and for the most part, your drafts, but I can't be the only one here who is like "WTF!" when we have the final pick of the day at 1:21 in the afternoon. Thats just a wasted day of drafting!
I have been sending you sitemails with proxy picks just on the off chance things speed up and it gets to me before I am ready to pick because I don't want to inconvenience everyone else by waiting 3 hours for me to pick in my slot. I guess I shouldn't bother doing that anymore because it seems no one else has that "courtesy reflex" in this league. No, I shouldn't say no one else...there are many I'm sure, but a few don't seem to care for sure.
I'd say the solution would be half hour increments, but I have suggested that before and you have resisted so I guess thats out. I guess I will just appeal to everyone else then and say:
If you have a pick coming up in a few hours (or eight), and you think there is a chance it could get to your pick before your time slot (and you won't be there before your slot). whats the harm in sending someone a proxy list to keep things moving???
I don't care how far ahead we were....there is just no excuse for EIGHT OR NINE hours of draftable time to go by with ZERO picks! I'm leaving for a cross country trip next Thursday and it would be nice if we were past the eighth round or so by then. OK, sorry, rant over. I'll shut up the rest of the draft...however long it takes.
