Round 1 Sound Off, 2020 Topic

A 5-13 day drops us even further. It's so much fun busting your *** to get your teams to perform well, only to watch it all helplessly collapse in the end.

$120M league my Jim Piersall has more XBHs than my Ty Cobb....
Piersall has about as many XBHs as you'd expect.....

garmansouth in the $80M league has managed to roster two identical versions of 2018 James Paxton.

how in the world is that possible?

There's a way to manipulate the drafting process to circumvent the positional requirements. I wonder if the same process could be used to roster multiples of the same player.

I cannot figure out my $110 team. They are abysmal at home, and decent on the road. I'm playing at AT&T to help my modern pitchers cut down on HR. -3/-3 for HR, but somehow Sale has allowed 13 HR in 113 IP at home (RL: 27 HR in 226.7 IP) and Kluber has allowed 14 HR in 97.7 IP at home (RL: 25 HR in 215 IP). They're on pace to match or exceed their RL HR numbers despite playing in a HR killing ballpark. In contrast, Kluber has allowed 3 HR in 97 road IP.

In addition, Ben Sheets has already matched his RL HR total allowed in 58 fewer IP. My pitchers overall have a real life OAV 70 points higher as a team at home than in RL, despite AT&T only being a +1 singles park (and extreme negatives in HR).

That was my thought too. However it was done, if it's repeatable it could open up a whole new universe of theme leagues.

Is it possible, the change was made through admin (via support ticket)? Seems like the only way something like that could happen.

I guess there's never a good time for the first Mauch of the tournament, but man. Still looks ugly

To keep up with the HR curiousness...in the variable league, '16 Miller (RL: 8 HR in 76 IP) has allowed 8 HR in 56 IP now, which is not shocking in itself, but he's allowed 4 at Target Field (-4/-4), 3 at Exposition Park (-2/-2) and one in SunTrust Park (-1/-1). He can survive the + HR parks but gives up long balls in negative ballparks.

I am commissioner of this league and I am flummoxed.

First off, as has been pointed out, this is supposed to be impossible in SLB.
Second (I have just re-checked) the league is set up NOT to allow clones, for either position players or pitchers. So that should ALSO make it impossible.

Beyond that, the only thing I personally verified was that each team's park matched their highest salary player, as required by the rules. The only other roster rule to be checked, obviously, is that each player used comes from his highest salary season. As this is too difficult and time consuming to check by hand, ozomatli has a spreadsheet that automates the process. My guess is that the spreadsheet does not check for clones though - because the first two points above SHOULD make it unnecessary to do so.

Maybe open a ticket with admin just to find out what happened? Surely they have records or logs that can explain it.

I feel like this is a blatant rule infraction. the commissioner of the league can inquire with admin how that happened.
