I have always used good pitch calling catchers, over 75. Looking at a hitter. Are you able to quantify the difference between an 81 pitch calling catcher and a 62 as it realates to your team ERA?

With a change in attitude could miket33 get hired as WIFS customer support, or would he need to keep the same attitude?

I did it one time after I had played 20 some odd seasons.   IIRC, it was roughly half a run for 40 points in PC.  At the time, I determined that the difference between 65 and 75 could be written off as SSS but a 25-30 point difference would be enough to consider when deciding between two C.

Sadly, I think customer support is more oblivious than nasty.   They say "No, that's how it's supposed to work" without reading the ticket.  MT33 would say "STFU.  I've got stables to clean.  Figure it out on your own!!!"

Playing in a game increases your chance of injury so I'm not sure how to answer that question.   If the question is "All things being equal, are a pitcher's chance of injury the same in inning 1 or inning 225?", the answer is "He's no more likely to be injured in either inning.  But he's been exposed to injury in 224 previous innings."
So would you shut down a prospect or elite pitcher once he hits a certain amount of innings?

No.  If he's pitching at 100% with an extra day of rest(which is how I work my staff), I'm never sitting a prospect.  I have sat an elite pitcher or two after game 150 because of the injury bomb.

Do you get bothered when other players use the Rule 5 draft rather than developing their own prospects?
1/12/2011 5:21 AM
Nope.   If you have so many prospects that you can't protect them all, something went haywire in the system a long time ago.

Do you value Range for a Catcher at all?  Is there a reason to NOT USE a C with a good arm, great PC and a great bat because he has a 0 Range rating?
1/12/2011 10:06 AM
I don't but there is a penalty for it.     Seems like the guys below 5 are prone to 1 passed ball every 5 games while the catchers with better range might be every 10-20 games.

Is 1 real day = to 3 HBD days? So putting someone on the 7 day DL means they're out for only 2 1/3 real days?

Will Cam Newton be the next:

a. JaMarcus Russell
b. Donovan McNabb
c. Jefferson Street Joe Gilliam
d. Ben Roethlisberger
e. Ryan Leaf

Correct.

I actually think he's going to be the Bizzarro World Tebow.  If he's put in the right system with the right, patient coaching, I think he can be a NFL QB.    However, unlike Tebow, I think there's a real good chance he shows up on a police blotter more than once in his career.   Destination: Cincy.

Will Cam Newton be taking a pay cut when he goes to the NFL?
1/12/2011 12:48 PM
No.  But his dad will.
