hmm, after losing to VaTech in my first CT game, 37-36, I get a 4 seed in the NT (2 lower than my RPI would have indicated)...in my first round game, I play 13-seed Santa Clara:

Surprising, but good. We've probably reached the end of our abilities at this point - up next is Texas, a very talented squad with more depth than we do. We'll see what happens but making the Sweet Sixteen is a good result with this year's team.

UNC got upset and now it's just me and BC soldiering on.

We went to 2 OTs before collapsing. At the end of regulation, we hit a 3 to reach the first OT. At the end of the first OT, Texas hit a 3 to reach the second OT. Even though we fell apart there, a valiant effort.

#17 SF, #119 Overall, ****; ineligible. I spent a fortune on wresting Koualeski from Marshall so I hope he shows up. We could really use him, too, in the long run. I don't want to keep playing Henry, who has topped out as a mediocre backup in the ACC, beyond this year. That's where Koualeski would be of great value. He can back up Traylor and start as a 5th year senior. I also like his WE, so he could really develop well in the offseason between this year and next
Koualeski was pretty good, but never became a great player. There just aren't that many great SFs around, anymore, in the potential era. There are a few, mind you, but no more than 4 per season, I'd say. I might start going after more SGs and PFs to cover that slot, in the future.

#52 PG, #238 Overall, **; redshirting. Ah, it's been a while since I've had a nice redshirt player who I knew was redshirting before they started their freshman year with me. As a redshirt PG, I really love the potential of Brian Hill. He could become a very good starting (pass-first) PG for me, or could become a decent career-long backup, depending on exactly where his "high" potential areas actually top off. Regardless, he should be an expert in our system for at least two years, and probaby three, and should be an important contributor. The NBA is not completely out of the question, but it is very improbable.

#11 SG, #52 Overall, ****; no promises. Harrison Parsons is a SG/SF player who'll be starting off as my backup SG (Marshall will be switching over to backup SF) as his athleticism improves. His overall potential as a SF depends on his ceiling on that rating. Overall, I quite like him. I hope his speed tops off in the mid 90s or better, rather than at the bare minimum (90). His defense is a big variable, as is his passing and stamina, but making the NBA for Parsons is certainly within reasonable expectation. The question is whether he's a first round pick or not...or at least it should be, I hope. Also if he's an early entry.

#15 PF, #53 Overall, ****; no promises. Another high ceiling guy who isn't ready to contribute at a high level, Brent Grady will be riding the pine pretty hard his first year, but should become a very, very good player with some practice time and perhaps a bit of time on the floor. I deeply hope that his stamina tops out in the 90s (though the 80s would be fine) and not at the lower end of "high." This one has the chance to be amazing, though his FT shooting will never be great.

#1 C, #5 Overall, *****; no promises. Granted, Adam Gill doesn't have the prospective improvement of the other members of his incoming class, but that's because he's already at a very good level for a center. I don't think I've ever had a recruit that was quite this highly ranked before. If I could change anything, I would start with his FT shooting percentage being in the 80s, potential on passing being "high," or FT shooting potential being "high," in that order. With that said, he is a great prospect and should quickly find a place in the rotation, and contribute to the Terps' future. His overall effectiveness will depend on the ceiling for improvement on athleticism and stamina.

interesting read CB. I looked at all those kids, figured you'd be in on the #1 C, so didn't even bother. I really wanted that PF, but you (or I guess Desendo) really wanted him as well and went hard early on, which I guess helped out, b/c I cut all ties after the first cycle. Like the SG as well, but I had my eyes set on the SG in long island off the start. Figured I didn't really want to battle again with you this season, especially since we dropped in prestige and you had more reward money.

Loved that SF in West Virginia, but I assumed UNC would go after him, and knew that was a battle I couldn't win. Perhaps we could have taken on Duke, but we were already spread out a bit, so there was no shot at retracking and going after him. Now I'll just hope for (2) top notch SF in the area next year so neither of us have to fight for either, though if I land the second SG this year, I may just go towards a SG-PF combo in the 3 hole for a couple of seasons until I can regroup my class sizes and have more ammo to go after more top end kids. This was a tough season in the north east w/ so many high prestige schools having so many openings, really had to mind my P&Qs this year. Great class you've brough in, not looking forward to facing them in a few years we may have to go -5 to protect the post against those kids :)

good luck this season.
