scalding hot take: no one-way players should be in the all-time top 15 in real life basketball, let alone the top 10

Mr Russell was very important to the way the Cs played offense if that is what you're getting after

before my time but from what ive read and watched i dont think magic and bird were all that good at defense...not top 10?

Teams regularly scored above 120 back then (not unlike they do today). Defense just wasn't a priority unless you were Squid or some other guys. Besides, we generally shouldn't hold it against transcendent offensive players because championship teams usually have one or two, whereas they usually have defensive specialists but championship teams almost never have a defensive guy as their best player. Only one example I can think of in recent times with no transcendent offensive or two way players & it's the 2004 Pistons

The silly Russell d rating issue is at least in part because of all-defensive teams. Aside from whatever (completely unknown) formula they have for calculating D rating, there seems to be an automatic bump to 90 D for making 1st team all defense. (There also seem to be lots of guys at 70 and 80 - eitherfor making the second team or some kind of adjustment for guys they thought came out too low. But those teams weren’t named for most of Russell’s career; it’s no coincidence that his 90 D rating comes in the first season of all-defensive teams (which he was on).

tl;dr like a lot of things in this Sim the d ratings are underbaked and haven’t been touched for years.
steve rogers to steve rogers who has just said 'I can do this all day': '{sigh} yeah, I know'

it's just a shame Scott doesnt have the extra 2 minutes it would take to access the player files and just change 9 seasons to 100 (or dare I say 110?) - way too much trouble and time to address such a minor error
Does Scott even work here anymore?
is there a way to tell the difference?
Definitely not

then you should edit your hot take to low usg defensive players cant be top 10

7 seconds Suns would have had the lowest pace in 1989 (more or less) which is about where the dreaded Bad Boys were hanging out - I think they played some defense
